Well, they are alternates.

Technically there are three versions:
1. Black
2. Off-White
3. Red (one-off for the Heritage Classic in 2017-2018)

I can't remember the last time I've seen them since they brought the 2D logo jerseys back.

1 and 11 are different numbers.

0 and 00 are the same number.

Martin Biron was the last to wear 00 before the NHL banned it. I don’t see why it shouldn’t be brought back into circulation.

0 and 00 were removed as uniform numbers because of the software the NHL used to track all of their statistics used players sweater numbers as a way of identifying them and the software didn't recognize 0 or 00 as an acceptable entry for a sweater number, so the league removed the option.
