As suspicious as Mac playing wing on Leo's line. There really is nothing to it, imo. I do think that Cronin needs to let one of the young C's take Strome's spot though and push Strome to the 3rd line. It's more important to see a 22 or 23 yo C develop than a 32 yo get more points.

Our Young C's need to be with the best wingers. So 2 out of 3 ( Leo, Mac, and Z) need to be at C, imo. If Mac looks better on the wing, keep him there, and if Z looks better at C, keep him there.

They are winning these games here and there on excellent goaltending, not scoring or even defending. I'd rather they focus on offense, but Cronin is not going to do that.
Vatrano Strome Terry anre also used for the tough matchups, where they have to play defense and are still expected to carry the team offensively. I do not think that Zegras is that guy yet. He becomes a perimeter player against bigger/stronger defenses. Strome has been a much better player than he’s given credit for because he flubs shots, but that’s not where his value lies. He would ideally be a 3C on a championship team, but none of the forwards outside of Terry would likely (currently) make the top 6 on that same team.

This is why we are dead last in the league in scoring. Too worried about defending. Honestly, really don’t do it that well. Goaltending has been the story here.

Killorn is the only forward on the team with a positive SAT%, followed by Terry, Strome, and Vatrano, then Carlsson, then Zegras.

Terry line doesn’t do it with shot suppression, as they give up more shots than anyone else, they do it by being able to still create offense themselves. I don’t think it makes sense to break that line up. The issue is coaching, and the system. Breaking up the one line that gives the team a chance to regularly score isn’t going to make the other guys less useless.

I think it’s like you said before. They only really have 1 true Top 6 forward at the moment in Terry. Leo, Mac, and Cutter are not there yet and are not making quick enough strides to get there. At least Mac has looked better as of late .

Then there is Z , who has regressed from a 60+ point player to barely a .50 PPG player

Thanks Cronin.

I don’t think it can be emphasized enough how valuable Killorn has been this year. He was never anywhere near as bad as the criticism would suggest earlier but he’s been so good for the past couple months.

Killorn isn't without value but it has been abundantly clear from the very start that he and Leo have absolutely no offensive chemistry.

Really? At 5v5 he has 14 points in 52 games playing 17+ minutes a night.

You really think that is contributing?
I think his total stats are more than respectable on a team that’s got the worst offense in the league. He contributes all over the ice in all situations as well. And for the 1,000th time He’s not the reason Carlsson hasn’t produced a whole lot this year, Leos gotta look at himself and his preparation mostly for that.

Also Why are you excluding PP points here? After the Terry Line forwards, only McTavish and Lacombe have more points than he does.

He is part of the reason that we have the worst offense in the league lol. I'm excluding PP points because I'm saying that he is a terrible line mate for Leo, which is most evident in 5v5. Both of their strengths are puck possession so putting them together means that we possess the puck without ever shooting it. The reason that line looks better recently is because Zegras actually shoots the puck.

Killorn would be fine, maybe even good on the third line. Leo would also be better on the third line. But putting them together and keeping them together for so long despite an obvious lack of production is f***ing asinine.

Killorn is producing as a top 6 forward on this team (he is the 5th highest scoring forward on the team). There are other players who are more to blame for that lol, obviously the bigger issue is the coaching and development of young players.

And If Leo and Killorn have this detrimental chemistry, it’s dragging down Killorn’s stats too, probably just as much. I mean you could complain every bit as much that it’s hampering Killorn, but it’s always looked at from Leo’s perspective.

I'm not trying to sound rude here, but you can't genuinely be questioning why people are more worried about the success of our potential franchise center than the success of a 35 year old, right?

Regardless, I didn't even realize this is in the Zegras thread so we're getting off-topic here and I'll leave it at that.

Well we’re ultimately concerned with how the team does and it’s impacted the contributions of both of them if it’s as bad as you say it is. I actually don’t think their chemistry has looked as bad as you do, but whatever- TBH Leo has literally only looked ok with one other player on the team, McT. we just don’t see eye to eye at all, but I agree this is off topic.
