I'm starting to wonder if he's ever gonna be a productive top 6 forward on the Ducks again.
I already think Boldy should have been the pick at #9 in hindsight. He's just been disappointing 2 years in a row. He had been playing better lately but then I feel he'd just go into a another long cold streak if he hadn't have gotten injured.

I rated Zegras top 3 in his draft. I liked Newhook better than Boldy but I got all 3 in my keeper league (as well as Caufiled). Thought Carlsson was too injury prone though and was hoping Ducks would take Fantilli.

I think both were good picks, I’d still take Z if we could do it again. I like Carlsson more than Fantilli but do agree that it’s looking like he will be somewhat injury-prone.

I think the coach forcing him into a grinder role as an undersized winger is also contributing partially the injuries, though that may just be my bias against Cronin talking

Dude, I'd close my balls in a sliding van door to get a re-do and take Boldy over Z, lol.
Ouch lol.

I mean I guess I’m thinking about what Z should be and was even for a couple years. With coaches that know how to use him, I think he can be great for us and has more upside than Boldy. At this point sure, but I really think it’s a function of development. Someone mentioned recently that Pat probably rated Boldy over Z and I think it’s pretty likely.

Z could absolutely still end up being better. Boldy has been so consistent though

I concede that Boldy was helped by playing for good teams, so was Kakko and Lafrienere and they sucked for years. Laf turned the corner on his own though while Kakko is still bad.

The Ducks are better this year yet I feel more disappointed this season because of how McTavish & Zegras are doing. I wanted Zegras to bounce back in a big way and produce on pace for 70 points and for McTavish to continue improving. Neither are worth trading, I'd just wait to see if they do a Lafreniere/Byfield turn around.

If Z and Mac don't both turn it around we'd might as well restart the rebuild again. Unless one of our D turns into a legit superstar along with Carlsson or Sennecke, we are cooked with this crop.

I mean while I'm not nearly as low on Zegras as this thread is I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason PV decided to keep rebuilding for awhile after he took over is because he didn't view Zegras and McTavish (and Drysdale) as potential franchise players

That scares me but it definitely could happen. I feel like top line talented players will still find a way to score even on bad teams with bad coaches. It seems that way in every one of the major sports, that the good players will still find a way to score just not as much/often.

They also aren't players he drafted too.

Looking pretty good in his 2 games since injury. Wouldn't be surprised if he watched a lot of tape of himself during his time off. He seemed to be very aware of his positioning, and keeping his feet moving getting into open areas, and back-checking into good positioning too. That one take away likely saved a goal. LETS GO ZEGS!
