Trent Frederic

We can judge this move after the playoffs. We are still at the point where him being gone isn't strange. Ideally he gets back to games before the playoffs but he doesn't need 10 games. Probably 5 games or so is plenty

Hopefully he ends up like a Cozens level of impact. It isn't great that we bought him injured but that's why the cost was lower. For a team without much for futures this was a smart addition

The point here, that you spectacularly keep missing, is that the Oilers are in a free fall right now and frankly it had started long before the trade deadline, and could desperately use somebody right now not at some point in the playoffs. A couple more losses in a row and that playoff spot will be in real jeopardy. That we never see Frederic at all in an Oilers jersey playing a game gets more real with every passing week. It was a horrendously bad idea to spend the few assets we had on this guy.
We’re 4 wins away from clinching a playoff spot if Vancouver wins their last 9 games and we have one of the easiest schedules to finish the season. Nothing is impossible but we’re most likely safe. 3 games against San Jose, 1 against Anaheim and the rest against playoff teams.

Good sign Trent is getting close. Assuming its a high ankle sprain (which all reports and logic seem to indicate), there really isn't a lot of time that will be needed, once skating, for him to likely feel good enough to play (maybe he is skating already on his own idk). High ankle sprains in general are far more a symptom limiting injury than an actual stability limiting injury that you might see with something like an ACL or MCL sprain of the knee. The ankle isn't unstable in a high ankle sprain like with those injuries, its just painful with impact, pivoting, and pushing off. Once symptoms subside he will progress through his return to play protocol very quickly (in most cases).

The win against Calgary last night certainly helped. Lose that one in regulation and the race gets much tighter. The remaining schedule looks easy but when the team is getting blown out by clubs like Anaheim and Seattle and looking as lifeless as they’ve looked recently no wins are guaranteed anymore.

Even the worst teams in the league manage 4 wins or 8 points in a 10 game stretch. Every time Vancouver loses that number of wins drops by 1 for us. It would be a legendary collapse for us to miss at this point of the season.

Calling somebody a liar and responding with insults in every other post is a way to have a discussion. Not sure what got into you this season. You've been the most abrasive in exchanges all season.

Done again with you.
So he’s supposed to prove what the injury is, but you’re not expected to back up your theory of them lying?

Anyone that's ever had an ankle sprain is probably aware that they can be extremely painful and take a long time to fully heal, and are highly susceptible to reinjury. I wish him the best, but it would likely had been better if he suffered a small fracture.
