Former Bruins Trent Frederic III

Who were the folks in here saying he wouldn't find an NHL job next year?
I didn't go so far as to say he wouldn't get a job, but if you'd told me he'd get 8 x $4M I simply would not have believed you.

I suppose over time that number gets less onerous, but anyone telling me Freddie is worth that kind of commitment sees things differently than me.

Holy, this is ridiculous. Frederic was obviously slow and unmotivated in the playoffs and this is what he gets. I thought he would be packing it off to another team whichever one was dumb enough to sign him.

Holy shit

A useless bum on a team that couldn’t even force a game 7/performed lesser than they did last year when they had a team that was was less built to beat the panthers. And Edmonton gives him 4 million for 8 years?

Seems like they’re back to their chiarelli days now

The 8 years is hilarious. It signals even Frederic knows this is way too much money. I’m locked in at that amount for 8 years? Hell ya, take the money and run

So glad we traded him.

The one good player we traded was fittingly given his choice of a landing destination and it worked out well for him. Marchand made a bet and bet on himself and it paid off.

The panthers might not have won that cup without him, in all honesty

Someone was going to pay him to play next season, but this is just wow. This deal tells me that Frederic isn't confident that his game will be anything more than it is now.

He probably pissed himself laughing when his agent told him what kind of deal Edmonton was offering, told him to FO and stop making jokes about him. This deal is the jackpot for him and there is no way he will justify it. I said in the past and I will say it again, 40 points in 2023 will be his career high and he won´t exceed it.

can’t help but think deals like this are tangible examples of NHL GM’s executing the sunk cost fallacy.

You give up assets for a guy that doesn’t do much of anything over 22 games so cutting ties after only four points is just too “wasteful”. Wanna keep the AAV low so give him eight years.

What’s crazy is what they probably thought they were bidding against. Did they think someone was going to swoop in with a 3 year deal for 6M AAV?

Man, 32 million dollar contract for Trent f***ing Frederic. Honestly, and I really mean this, good for him.

Well said.

Happy for TFred.

Really happy it wasn’t Boston signing his next contract.

I think Freddie absolutely ripped that contract out of Stan’s hand and cranked a massive FREDDIE SAYS YES on it with a sharpie for avoidance of any doubt.

I called it. Useless.
Love the confidence- claiming victory when a guy you called useless signs a massive new contract.
