Yeah EDM is hoping that's a savvy deal based on a "low" cap hit, but I would never, ever, ever make an eight year deal for Trent Frederic. The chance that you're going to be eating some of that money either as a future buyout candidate or in retainment during a trade is way too high.

My take on Fred is that he's reached his ceiling. And that ceiling isn't very high and his play is often well below it. He's not a player you "commit" to long-term regardless of AAV.
