Elias's numbers project to be sliding like last years. Swayman's slide is more surprising and ultimately more impactful. The Bruins were winning in spite of Lindholm's performance. Swayman is no longer a given to make a critical stop.

Unfortunately Don Sweeney can't trade Frederic to Don Sweeney.

Hopefully there is another GM out there who isn't in a rush to see his new acquisition.

I mean what a blunder. You can say "won't change any plans" all you want, but I would bet teams are way more gun-shy to acquire this player now. At the very least his value went down when they can't really afford that to happen.

Fits the "whatever can go wrong will go wrong" with this team at the moment. Anyone else they wish to offload in a trade should be shutdown until the deadline.

that video stops short - in game coverage showed Frederic trying to get up off the ice clearly favoring what looked like his right leg ... i could be wrong, but that's what i recall

I don't see any scenario where he would have net us a first but 2nd plus sure. Now I think it'll be all kinds of conditions like a 4th plus conditional second if he plays in the first round kind of thing

I’m still thinking he brings back a 2nd. This years draft isn’t suppose to be that deep, so ya I’m thinking a 2025 2nd

Frederic eager to play for the Oilers.

It’s a logjam on left wing in Edmonton these days, but everyone knows there will be a spot for Trent Frederic as soon as his wonky ankle allows him to join the Edmonton Oilers lineup.

How soon until he can start skating?

“I've asked that question and got a lot of different answers. Whenever they let me, I’ll be skating,” he said Thursday, as Frederic met the Edmonton media for the first time. “I’m just taking it day by day, and each day I think it's (coming) sooner and sooner. So that's a good thing.”

The Oilers were vague on Frederic’s availability: “He’s going to be a little while,” said head coach Kris Knoblauch.

Whatever that means.

Frederic arrives in a deadline-week trade from the Boston Bruins alongside left winger Max Jones, who will play on the Edmonton Oilers fourth line Thursday night, as a light and not-very-physical Oilers team tries to beef up for a playoff run.

Both wingers are 27 years old, six-foot-three and better than 215 pounds. The Oilers are the oldest team in the National Hockey League and dead last in hits.

It seems like the perfect match.

Nothing concrete. All we heard was the two camps were far apart on his next contract until a month or so before the deadline when we heard the gap was closing in negotiations.

Edmonton must be thinking price is getting steeper every day he sits and gets closer to UFA. I assume Edmonton thinks they can sign him?
