Gripe, no gripe, however people want to live is up to them. You don't think people have a legit gripe? 14 of his points came in a 12 game span. Nothing in the other 40 games. I know you're a big fan of him, but he's been shit for 80% of the season.
There will be a game or two where it's like "Oh, there's Trent Frederic!" then 10 games of wondering if he's playing or not.
Solid argument.Gripe, no gripe, however people want to live is up to them.
ok, I was playing connect the dots. Some rather dim seeming Calgary talking head was talking up TF, while another rumor suggested they would move Kadri. No skin off my nose as Kadri is Washed up and would be an awful add even for Freddy.
Great goal vs a great goalie, Good for Freddy he's been very good points asideNice goal, good game
You are calling Frederic annoying is richGood post but he is not perplexing, he is annoying. I agree about center and open ice, but other than that: he isn't very skilled, gets confused easily in all three positions and he floats, mostly because of the confusion.

cut to the chaseAnd plus/minus and faceoffs aside.
I’m trading Frederic if unsigned on March 5 but I’m taking a hard shot to resign
He’s a very good body checker - other players seem to dislike him as much as people here so that tells me maybe we should resign him
He seems destined for Tampa or Florida in FA where he turns into 20 goal scorer

Not hard to figure out how this can lead to inconsistency - his 5v5 line mates this season:Freddy is a polarizing player here. I suppose we need to have one or two every season. Jake, Grizz, there is always at least one. Trent had a solid game last night, no doubt, and the goal was a nice one. That just makes me more frustrated with the guy, actually, because he can play that way a lot more often than he does- it's never been primarily a skillset issue with him. I also don't believe he is a lazy player but for whatever reason he is terribly inconsistent and this season has been among his worst as a Bruin in that regard. And at a time when they need him to not be that.

What have they done to try and get him going? Was he bumped up to play with Pastrnak like Geekie, nope. Bumped up to play with Marchand like Coyle, nope. They've used him as the foundation of the 3rd line and IMO the 3rd line isn't in the top 8-10 reasons for the team's inconstancy problems. That's totally fair, but part of the problem is Trent himself as the team has tried to get him going (along with other guys). He's always been a little frustrating to me because he could do a lot more than he does on many nights, even if he isn't scoring. Revolving linemates should not affect his level of physical engagement in a game, for example. This season, no doubt in part due to the overall team dysfunction leading to line mixing and matching, but also due to his own poor level of play, he has been worse consistency-wise than we've seen in his career so far (iirc), and they need him to be better.
I hope that isn't considered a controversial take. I'd like nothing more than Trent to find himself here and become that 15-25-40 guy that bangs the body, disrupts on the forecheck, and controls play along the boards. If he could do that level consistently (and no not every single night, just most), he'd be well worth keeping around at 4+m x 4 or whatever.

Look at that list of who they've played him with - if you want to "get a guy going" on this team you're not rolling him out with that crew. I mean he has more minutes this year with Tyler Johnson than with Pastrnak and Marchand combined.Putting him with different linemates constantly trying to find some guys he can get chemistry with and get going, yeah, they've tried. Maybe you don't agree that they've done enough toward that end? Then again, the problem may just lie with Freddy this season. He can't seem to play well for more than a game or two with whoever they put him with. At some point, the player has to be the issue.
I also know that we are unlikely to ever agree on the subject of Trent Frederic

I mean it's the product of an inconsistent season for the team, but its also pretty telling about what he's been dealing with - particularly when you notice the names completely absent from the top 10 combinations he's been on.
I think the problem is too often the play dies on his stick in the Ozone. That's not what you want if you're going to put one of your two best offensive weapons with him. Was hoping they'd try him on Marchy's RW, but I can see why they would not.Look at that list of who they've played him with - if you want to "get a guy going" on this team you're not rolling him out with that crew. But it is what it is. I figured at the start of the year that he'd be gone. He'd either play well and price himself out, or play poorly and they'd go in another direction. I do think he has more offense in him than what we saw last year, but he needs to play with offensive line mates and get some PP time to produce it. Maybe his next team will give him that chance, Boston certainly isn't.

ExactlyWahlstrom has only played 14 games this season. How has Frederic played with him and Brazeau over 10% of the time?
