I agree. I think the question is "does Freddy provide more value to this team as a re-signed player or as trade chip"?Freddy is great trade bait. He is most likely the player on the Bruins roster teams will over pay for.
Freddy is the player contenders will want at the deadline. Still think DS will try hard to resign him.
Just like there are people that don't know what they are talking about. "4orrbruin""There is a sucker born every minute." P.T. Barnum.
He will most likely bring more in trade because he does not bring much here.I agree. I think the question is "does Freddy provide more value to this team as a re-signed player or as trade chip"?
To me, based on the assumption that there is a gap in value perception between B's and Freddy AND it seems that other teams in the League value what he brings, I'd say the answer to that is trade.
Nothing against him, but unless he's going to bring the intensity most nights (a la Kastelic) what he brings now is not enough to offset what it seems we might be able to get for him. And IMO we should use whatever that is for the retool, rebuild, excavation, demolition, makeover, relaunch, or whatever the f*** it is we are calling whatever needs to be happening but right now is not.
My issue is the fact that $4-4.5M is a lot of money to get production 1/10 games.
Has there been a player on the Bruins that have played with everyone but the Zamboni driver? My issue is the fact that $4-4.5M is a lot of money to get production 1/10 games.
He's been pointless in 40 games this year.
The frustrating thing for me with Freddy is that he has the tools to be a solid middle-6 winger. He has the ability to be a bigger physical presence and shit disturber, while giving you 20+ goals & 40+ points. Honestly I wouldn't be shocked at all to see him end up in FLA with his buddy Tkachuk. He'll go down there and become the exact player that many of us hoped he'd be.
