Tied for 7th in the league in +/- among forwards while getting 5min less per night than everyone ahead of him.

8th in the league in g/60 among players who've 20+ games.

Great to see from the kid

Tip of the hat to Montgomery who realized there's more to Frederic than hunting and hitting.
Monster 3rd line and Frederic is a big part of it.

Great on the forecheck too.

I thought he would benefit by playing with Hall and Coyle on the 3rd line… but who is really helping who? :naughty: They all mesh very well.

It’s so crucial to have a good 3rd line. Hall and Coyle already make it way better than “good” but if Freddy keeps this up, it’s lethal. Kudos to Freddy for dealing with all the frustration/setbacks and coming back stronger each time. And kudos to Monty for letting him build up his trust and giving him an opportunity.

We all can talk about is shot or skating and overall skill set being better and the coaching change but in my opinion like 'CONFIDENCE " too trump all other.........

I enjoyed his post-game interview and remarks last night. Keys to his recent success according to him: Hall and Coyle, Monty believing in him, able to play looser and not as afraid to make mistakes.

The coach sets the lines. The coach helps set the tone and climate. The coach decides when to bench a player. Plenty of credit to Frederic and his linemates for his recent success, but also cannot ignore the impact the coach is having on TFred's success. Something is going on with multiple payers on this team looking a whole lot better than in the past. Happens wherever Monty goes, every level he has coached.

Frederic looks like a much better player under Monty.

He’s another guy who is proving me wrong this year. I was so done with him last year, but he’s been very, very good this year on that third line.

That’s the ideal 3rd line for me. You have a big puck possession guy in Coyle. A guy with major wheels and a hell of a skill set who’s a 1st line wing on many teams in Hall and a guy who’s getting more confident as days go by in Frederic. That can be a fantastic line in the playoffs.

Super encouraging. Hopefully will continue to improve. What was the comment at the time he was drafted ?
At best a 3rd line center , or was it 4th.
Doing we'll as a winger, have seen some nice passing from him recently.
Can he up his game to be a center, and drive a line ?
Hopefully so, then he can take over for Coyle or even better if he's 2nd line abilities.

Anyone recall if Frederic played RW at all in previous years? Obviously playing with Hall is a boost and Coyle is having one of the best all around years of his career, but I'm curious if playing RW opens up more to Frederic's game.

Tfreddy is such an interesting case study. i didn't watch much of him in providence, but seemed like dropping the gloves
was how he got noticed. and then he was this superpest in the bubble season, starting crap and fighting anyone who came
his way (and i loved it). and then last year, he was a mess. now? he's looking like a pretty damn good player. i know a lot
of people like @PlayMakers were on his bandwagon, with folks saying there was a lot more to his game.

Not posting to brag, because I too had reservations about Freddy after last year, but I've said it time and time again on here and it seems to be ringing true for Freddy now as well....big guys take time to develop and we really need to have patience.

Nichushkin is a great recent example, Jeannot as well, Ferland, etc. Maybe Freddy is our version of these guys, finding out what he needs to do now that he's no longer bigger than everyone as I'm sure he was growing up.

I hope we give Beecher some time as fans as well.

Maybe it's a Cassidy/Monty thing again, but I'd given up on this kid last year. It wasn't just production, it was antics - he'd take a lot of stupid penalties and take cheapshots while not being able to back it up. Seems like a completely different player this year, just like the rest of the bottom 6.

Not to nearly the same level, but Tage Thompson over his first 145gp had 35pts and bounced between the NHL and AHL. He finally grew into his body and figured out how to use his size playing against men. There are so guys that come up and figure it out right away, but others need time. For defensemen I think its around 200gp when they start to really put things together. For forwards its probably more like 100-150gp.

Some of that could have been because his "enforcer" style in the AHL is what got him to the NHL. Once up here he could have felt like in order to stay in the line-up that he needed to be that pest/agitator. Could have also been that's what Cassidy was asking of him. He definitely seems like a more confident player this year though.

Sucks we didn't extend him I was screaming to get him inked while the price was still low because this power forwards cost a ton if they show any sort of offense.

Not diminishing Monty’s contribution but when you have Bergie, March and Krejci (and Hall) playing on massive discounts and short deals vs their earnings potential it sets the tone for the rest to give it extra. That IMO is a massive factor in the play so far as they recognize the leadership isn’t it it for themselves but for the team and the 16W.

He probably won’t shoot 21% all year, but his all around play is just so noticeably better, it doesn’t matter.

Agreed. A little concerning that them all trying so hard might not leave an extra gear for the playoffs, but maybe I am just being a grump.
