Travis Konecny on A Contender

I think he can play either wing so he’d be on L1 or L2 for Toronto

Just depends who he’d gel with more 34 16 or 91 88

Indeed, Konecny would be among top and key forwards on any NHL team, that includes also the current top contenders - therefore he would be on top 2 lines.

You also have to take into account the fact that if you want to have Konecny, eg. on Tampa, then it is likely Tampa will not be able to maintain all their current top wingers - they would have hard time fitting all of them - Kucherov, Hagel, Guentzel, Konecny - under the cap hit, and at the same time keep their other important players on other positions.

Btw, trying to compare T. Bertuzzi to Konecny (or their situations) is actually quite ridiculous (as I've seen in this thread, post #9). Konecny is nearly point-per-game player for 3 seasons in a row now. T. Bertuzzi has 1 isolated nearly point-per-game season, and that is already three years ago.

It's going to be interesting to see how they play under a new coach and to see if Tortzs was the reason the team played poorly.

Is there teams who have 4 better wingers than Konecny? Maybe 1 or 2?

He's exactly what's missing on the Sens

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Batherson
Konecny - Norris - Giroux
Greig - Pinto - Perron

I’d have him with Tkachuk and Stutzle for sure .

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Konecny
Perron - Cozens - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Giroux

Easy first liner on the sens.

Yeah that post was from but looking at it now with all the changes, that would be a good fit

Problem is there is a need for a very good 2-way LW for the 2nd line, these guys need someone to drive the defense on that line

Also, can't have both Giroux and Perron, Perron's 2nd year kinda hurt, could mean that we can't re-sign Giroux.

Finally, how could we afford Konecny both in terms of assets and cap space?

Reality is we're still recovering from Dorion's era. Which is another argument why I want them to forfeit the 1st round pick this year, as soon as possible to continue to move on from Dorion's stink.

If Konecny were on the Panthers, he'd only crack the Top 6 as the fourth best winger and have to play his off wing.

Verhaeghe - Barkov - Reinhart
xxxx - Bennett - Tkachuk
Luostarinen - Lundell - xxxx

Maurice would probably rather play Samoskevich on his off wing than Konecny, and that'd allow Konecny to feast on lesser competition on the third line.

Having 3 top 6 lines on the Panthers is the past thing the east needs

I feel like OP’s friend kind of disproved his own point by demonstrating that no team in the NHL has two wingers better than Konecny. Even he is saying that Konecny would probably be on any team’s top line, or at worst the second line behind a true star.

TK is definitely a 1st-line capable player, but teams roll lines in more interesting ways these days.

He's beyond all doubts top-6, it just depends on the fit. If you have him on a 2nd line under a better winger though, you're a Cup favorite.

He's that weird sort of guy who you can see being that 3rd/4th best player on a Cup contender, but he just has never had the opportunity. He at least has the tenacity for playoff hockey if you've really watched him.
