Team offense is middle of the pack while team defence is top 10. Was closer to top 5 before this not so great stretch.

Our players legit have finished like garbage. Not sure how the coach can fix that

The advanced stats actually suggest the Sens are scoring more goals than expected given the chances we are generating.

We're ranked 28th in the league for expected goals scored, but we're 15th in actual goals scored, which indicates the Sens players (really just the top 6) are finishing quite well.

If the team is failing to create scoring chances, some of that will fall on the coach and his system.

Staios mentioned something about how Green will slowly add layers as they go. And it got me thinking about Chabot saying how simple his system is compared to years past, and if basically the plan has been to dumb things down until they master it and then keep adding layers.

Who knows. The secondary scoring is inexplicably bad, it’s hard to grasp why.

I don’t see that at all, I think Travis has been very critical of his team recently but I think there are a few realties that any NHL coach would struggle with:.

A well coached Travis Green team is relentless like what we have seen in small spurts with this team this year, hard to be relentless when your team is slow. Relentless is being on top of people, every line has a slow player and the lack of speed allows the opposition to remain comfortable in their system and you see opposition rookies, backups, depth players always play well versus Ottawa because it’s a comfortable game. Brady Tkachuk might beat someone’s face in and you’ll get hit a few times, but overall Ottawa isn’t stressing teams.

Leadership within the room is obviously an issue. To start they had versus L.A. After coming off the most embarrassing effort in maybe Sens history versus SJ is unforgivable. It’s piss poor, it’s embarrassing, it can’t be tolerated. Need to start changing letters around.

I don't know if it's all on speed. It was basically the same roster when they played so well against the NYR where they competed for 60 minutes. But if you're right that this team is too slow for the style he wants them to play, then he has to adjust the style to suit the team. More neutral zone coverage (a form of the trap), more covering the man instead of puck watching are 2 examples I can think of. Be more physical.

The only players I see playing the right way consistently are Stu and Jensen. Drake, Brady, Sandy, G and Chabot have moments but only in short spurts. Pinto has gone off the rails for some reason. Sandy is playing bad, can't all be blamed on Hamonic, he played with him as a rookie and was much better than he is now. I'd either put Jensen with Sandy as the shutdown pair or reunite Jensen with Chabot and take away some of Sandy's minutes.

- Norris can't take a pass anymore, and can't one-time. Still has more goals than I'd expect him to, given the way he's playing.

- Giroux looks slow, can't keep up and is easily man-handled now.

- Amadio makes Condra look like Ovechkin.

- Pinto is probably playing hurt.

- Gregor just got back, is not expected to provide much offense anyway.

- Ostapchuk seems to be focusing on the defensive side, and is not exactly a play driver.

- Outside of Chabot and Jensen, nobody on defense is contributing offensively 5 on 5, they just want to get rid of the puck quickly.

Yeah, hard to evaluate Perron so far. As for Greig, he's been disappointing, but I'm just not sure what should be expected of him.

Pinto and Sanderson playing to their full potential would make a big difference. As usual, half the story is players playing through injuries.
