Hummmmm, after 13 games this season, the Sens are sitting with an identical 6 W - 7 L record……

Am not seeing that many points to be had, in the next 10 games, before we flip the calendar over to December.

After 23 games last season, the Sens were 11 W - 12 L.

Not seeing 5 more Wins before December… to just match last seasons record after 23 games…..

Lines at practice are pretty much identical, save for the injuries. A common criticism from Canucks fans was that Green didn’t change all that much whenever the team was on a losing streak.

The team record is 6-7. The Islanders record is 6-6-2.

The Islanders are a defence first mindset because they don't have the offensive capabilities to succeed.

The Sens have produced a ton of offense this year, they are capable of going into a shootout with anyone.

We need to play defense the way that the Islanders do. If the Sens do that then this team will be a contender.

I don't know if it is Green's system that doesn't work or is it just bad defence and bad goaltending.

Need to get Hamonic in the press box.

Every pair he is on is significantly worse.

I can’t stand the “Vet” tax that coaches have.
I mean to some extent I get the philosophy: rookie mistakes are usually of the brutal and unrecoverable kind that end up in your net. Vets of the game make mistakes in more "safe" and recoverable ways.

The problem is we're seeing a guy who is your 7th D get shoved up to the top line due to injury and even when he does play on the bottom pair is just too slow nowndue to age. How many times does a guy have to get bit bad by a soft clearing attempt before you realize it's at least worth seeing how JBD is developing?

I mean, we just held Boston to 16 shots, none in the third, on the road so Bos has last change, he can't be doing that bad,

I'd still prefer JBD but Hamonic has been much better this year, he doesn't belong in the top 4 but on the third pair he's been fine

I thought Hamonic was fine yesterday. We're all excited to have Zub back on the top pair to push Hammer back down, but it was him that had the most egregious error resulting in the puck in the net yesterday. Basically the exact play people would jump on Hamonic for. Weak clearing attempt up the boards easily picked off followed by getting walked around.

Yeah, it's not like JBD vs Hamonic is a major difference-maker (an upgrade over both would be a different story). I imagine JBD will get his games too soon enough.

I would be playing JBD because he has a future here and we want him to keep developing. If he struggles bring Hamonic back in for JBD to reset.

I understood it to start the year but Kleven has shown he can handle his part.

I don't think the JBD - Kleven pair gave them much reason to be afraid to use them

It's not just about reps, it's about if one of our injury prone guys go down in the game also and the bottom guy has to play more often.

It's also about that "accountability" crap that coaches say in the media and then ignore it for their buddies.

I would agree he is the better fit beside Kleven, but I don't assume JBD is a guaranteed part of the future. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go unqualified this summer since he'll have arb rights and am sort of expecting a total reset on the 6/7 D for next year. Lots to take place between now and then though.

If they are on that page it makes more sense. I would not be looking at it like he is not going to be here

The problem is that it’s impossible to decide if he’s part of the future if he doesn’t play.

He’s just a question mark lingering.

Meanwhile, we know that Hamonic is not a part of the future. If there was a tangible advantage of playing Travis over JBD, I’d get it, but I don’t think there is.

Now, kind of hard to take him out after no shots against for 25 minutes.

That's a good point, but we know NHL front offices sometimes decide on players, often even, before they get a real, extended opportunity. Long list of guys they invested time and effort in only to cast away without ever really playing while fans clamoured for them to get games. I'm really on the fence here. Do they just love Hamonic, or do they not like what JBD brings. I'm on the side that I don't think the results are overly different with either, but obviously JBD is firmly behind Hammer in their eyes. Seems to me like JBD is fine and has improved, but he always seems to be the odd man out when it matters and I'm starting to think he's just seen as temporary filler. Also, hasn't there been media members claim he was made available last year and/or during the summer by current management?

He cleared waivers unclaimed last year...

This team looks way more mature and composed than past years, give credit where it's due.

Green, Alfie, Yeo, etc. That's a lot of quality vets behind the bench, not to mention the vets added over the summer (Amadio, Cousins, Perron, etc.).
