GDT: Traverse City 2019 Part II

I have not heard anyone pronounce it the correct way on US television. But the same goes for Rykov haha

Milan was cycling up to the point and had the opportunity to dump it off to his defenseman on the left side and in doing so would have been drawing some players to him and allowing his D to move into the zone. Instead he kept it and tried to skate across the blueline, got pressured by two players and couldn't move it to the otehr defenseman and then lost an edge

The first defenseman tried to move down into the zone like he was expecting a play, the other one should have probably dropped back but was also seemingly trying to provide a passing option that never game

Embarrassing turnover at the top of the offensive zone. The guy decided to cycle up there obviously the Dmen moved down to get out of his way and he blows a tire for a 2 on 0. Shesty got a piece but beats him 5 hole. Probably was thinking about the pass as well can’t blame him.

Not a very good period.

Kakko looks enormous
 
and again, Rangers having trouble with the Wild's defensive structure. Can't gain the zone with possession so they're getting no offensive cycle or pressure going. Coaches will hopefulyl find a way to change that for period 2

Yeah, but I don't know. CBJ can feel good about themselves making the Championship game three tournaments in a row, but what they do is show up and back down and then they counter attack after kids have made rookie mistakes playing September hockey.

Not sure that is the best way to prepare for a season. You won't want the kids to play like that in the NHL so what is the point?

It was an unfortunate play. He tried getting rid of it and had a lane toward the goal but the puck rolled on him. It's not like he tried to dangle or make a high risk play.

D will often drift outside the dots or activate to spread out and get open as an option when a forward brings the puck up to the line like that so it's gonna be dangerous if it's turned over which it was.
 
Shesterkin much better that period.

Fox has crazy poise at this level.

Reunanen appears to be just as calm, but without the same skill level.

Our top line was quiet, although you can tell that Kravtsov and Kakko are looking to pounce on any opportunity they're given. Skinner definitely needs more seasoning, and I'm still not sure if Keane has improved much from this time last year; but we'll at least get plenty of looks of him against men this season.

Hmm.... When I click on the fox sports go app stream it says the game will start shortly, even though it started 40 minutes ago.
