And maybe Perry was a small part of getting to that game 7 or maybe not. Your opinion is fair but I for one still welcome his experienced voice whether it is on the bench, in the room or simply at the dinner table. Now if we were talking about a 4 million 2 year deal I would be scratching my head as well but the guy is getting a million and it’s a guy coach can confidently throw out on the 4th line and know he’ll do his job.I dont buy the experience bit. This team has played the second most amount of playoff games (behind Florida) the past 3 seasons. They went to game 7 of the finals. This team is experienced. I also think the coach and players around can hold others accountable. We have seen Drai yelling at Kane on the bench, mentoring young guys. We have seen McDavid yelling at JP on the bench also.
Hawks considered him that after what transpired there. Just saying a guy that had totalled his career there should probably be somewhat thankful to even have any NHL continuance remaining. Maybe to even be humble about that. You wouldn't know it from Perry bellowing about a team mate here.
f*** around and find out..
Perry should call himself out. What would that look like?
Its been hard to like what Perry has contributed here. Mostly nothing. Theres times where it looks like he's still screwing over the Oilers.
Thanks for the feedback. Did not know the latter. Makes some sense that Hawks would be uber dilligent at the time to flush anything unsavory out. Was all kind of strange but so the Hawks are. Still don't want Perry here. Was open to him but he's done nothing here to make me think he should be a player this season.Perry won his appeal, and Serevalli (pretty sure it was him, could have been Friedman) said that it's very unlikely that any other team would go the lengths of contract termination. Blackhawks felt that they had to prevent the headline of "BACKHAWKS AT IT AGAIN!" Basically made the choice to put out a fly with a sledgehammer for appearances knowing they would lose an appeal.
Perry having something to do with that is a long stretch of conjecture. His play on ice left the team lacking. The Oilers overcame the listless play of players like Perry. And maybe Perry was a small part of getting to that game 7 or maybe not. I agree with those saying its long past where the Oilers should even need these types of voices. They have the experience all on their own.
You the know the Oilers are in a great spot when half of the training camp discourse on this site is spent on blowing up our 12/13 forward who can be fired into the sun at any moment. So who's tearing a strip of Perry for being the worst player on the ice AND taking stupid and mindless penalties? Perry blowing up on Evander Kane was a new low point. This is Perry who was considered toxic waste in Chicago, that had wrecked his career. Only the Oilers threw him a life preserver (and I still don't know why" and he has the gall to be calling out other players? Look in the mirror Perry.
That Perry even thought he had license to call out another player is interesting at this point. I wonder too how Perry would respond if somebody had done that to him. Seems to have entirely forgot any semblance of how he was fired from Chicago in the first place.
To his credit Kane didn't join Perry in the gutter. Thankfully Kane limited any response.
Good point you. I'm just jonesing for some sports and anything to happen. You the know the Oilers are in a great spot when half of the training camp discourse on this site is spent on blowing up our 12/13 forward who can be fired into the sun at any moment.

Except you know they won't do that with Perry. You the know the Oilers are in a great spot when half of the training camp discourse on this site is spent on blowing up our 12/13 forward who can be fired into the sun at any moment.

I am not going to give a long-winded explanation in return but who put up the money for all that development and no other Business owner was not going to put up 250 meters and 150 meterProperly evaluated one has to look at how much development would occur nonetheless and how much appreciation/depreciation etc, as well as the draw away from other areas. What we have in the DT now is that the increase in CRL is around Arena District but the whole area of 104st and other areas, the development came before, and was going to anyways. Same with the Grant McEwan expansions. Those were happening anyway. An unfortunate aspect is somehow the Arena District has taken any impetus out of the Arts district. All of the Citadel, Art Gallery and the new Museum, Revamped Library are struggling big time. Hardly anybody going there. As well the Marriot is not just seen as a value plus, its drawn much of any same business away from the former Sutton hotel which is now a Sandman and doing awful and the Westin that is also caving. Its an absolute case that the Marriot just upseated what were some of the former busier hotels. The overall demand in DT hotel rooms hasn't really changed much.
As many thought its just a matter of moving shell games. The impetus is now at Arena District and its not in the former areas that used to be the DT draw points. For instance Churchill square is now derelict, the Library is, the whole area has been adversely impacted. Its truly sad how underused and empty that whole area has become.
So that the answers are very complex.
Katz also made a killing leasing out Edmonton Tower to the city to rehouse their offices and then sold it to an Alberta Govt consortium at a reported 200M profit.
Meanwhile the city is on the hook for a 100M levy that was supposed to being paid by increasing parking demand. Parking revenue has vastly underperformed projections. The City sees some increase in CRL levy in the district and overall but in general Edmonton real estate and land prices have exploded all over. Moreso OUTSIDE the DT.
The city also on the hook for massive security and policing costs to keep the shiny arena district looking shiny and safe. This has even drawn resources from other areas. Much to the worsening of those other areas.
I'll be glad if we aren't looking for G1 by Halloween.Hoping that by Xmas, we are so impressed with Emerson (RD2) and Stecher (RD3) that all eyes turn to locking in a C4 prior to the playoffs.
Where in my post am I saying Katz is a villain? I'm saying he's the one person that profited. For damn sure as a taxpayer I haven't. The CRL that the city collects on this development over and above what would have been anyway far less than the public expenditure and costs.I am not going to give a long-winded explanation in return but who put up the money for all that development and no other Business owner was not going to put up 250 meters and 150 meter
towers that are going to bring in multi-millions in taxes for decades to come any other development would have been minuscule in size . Could you stop trying to act like he is a villain
No one else has invested that much in the history of the City on one private development
This isn't really a club that requires the miniscule amount Perry is bringing on the ice or in the room. Its a pretty self motivated bunch here on the club. Who is Perry talking to that needs talking to?Well I don't know if Connor/Leon agree with that. He's back because I think they requested him back.
And I think it's because they don't have to be the two that always have to speak up in the room.
I've watched about every miniseries or movie its possible to watch. . lol. Time for some NHL drama. These next few weeks are the worst. Pre-season is on so it feels like it's close, but they aren't real games yet so not the same. Football is great on Sundays, but MNF and TNF games can be hit or miss. Baseball is baseball.
The NHL usually has at least one intriguing game per evening to tune in to even if it isn't the Oilers. I find myself mindlessly flipping through channels without it.
You think that Katz put up the money for all the buildings? He bought up all the land at very low costs and sold most of it back to the city and the other developers. He also rented out the space to the city for their offices.I am not going to give a long-winded explanation in return but who put up the money for all that development and no other Business owner was not going to put up 250 meters and 150 meter

How would you as a taxpayer expect to profit from Ice district?Where in my post am I saying Katz is a villain? I'm saying he's the one person that profited. For damn sure as a taxpayer I haven't. Serious question. Have you been to the DT lately. Abandoned is the word that comes to mind. Nobody wants to work there, play there, live there. Anything not around Ice District the streets are deserted or filled with homeless and addicts. How would you as a taxpayer expect to profit from Ice district?
You don't think that development makes your city better?
Wrong.Serious question. Have you been to the DT lately. Abandoned is the word that comes to mind. Nobody wants to work there, play there, live there. Anything not around Ice District the streets are deserted or filled with homeless and addicts.
So has all the DT impetus made the city better? No. The DT has never been worse place to visit.
The biggest single improvement to the city and its industry and infrastructure AND population was the Henday Ring Road. That transformed everything and shot up real estate. That was a provincial undertaking, and imo money well spent as it actually supports the industry and economy. DT spending, not so much.
