Brown has peeled off any sort of effective physicality for some time now.

One of many reasons that this season needs to be his swan song with the Kings.

That backcheck on the goal tonight was pathetic.

Quick comments. Maatta better not even be the 7th defenseman once the regular season starts. Waive him, he's garbage and FFS, makes the worst pinches. First line worst line so far.

I think that's also a massive problem with the first unit. Kopitar is way too slow so zone entry is abysmal on the first unit making it way too predictable. Second unit again looks a lot better.

He's not what he used to be, but did I imagine him pasting that guy with the long Italian-like name? He looks a bit more physical in this game than I've seen him in a while.

Overall the team is playing a lot heavier than they have the last few seasons/preseasons.

yeah i don't mean to rag on the team as a whole, they seem much stiffer checking than i've seen before, especially the defensemen

i do think brown hit someone on that same shift but it really looked like he had a "ehh one is enough" moment before he peeled off. like maybe it was a bit late but i'd rather toe that line on the bad side

He's been a revelation. And it's not like he has all day to make these decisions and passes. This isn't a Prokh situation either as a lot of his game was he was a big body with some skill. If Tkachev can stay healthy he's going to be valuable.

Games like this are why I feel the "there's no way they waive Maatta" people aren't watching the same player I am.

I haven't felt this way about a Kings dman since Randy Jones.

Just utterly worthless at best, downright self-inflicted shotgun wounds at worst.

Just got outgoalied in the 1st, that was the difference. Play like that all game and it'll be a W. Brossoit saving that Arvidsson breakaway immediately hurt.
