Last one is getting close, and Lou's name came up for no reason, so good time to start a new thread.
Lets stick to topic. We don't need Dubas is bad because this this every time.

Based on lines, we are getting a clear idea of what lineup may be. I'm with Zeke, I would try Muzzin with Rielly. That pair interests me. Where Keefe puts Sandin should be worth tracking.

I like that it seems we'll be able to get a look at ZAR - Kampf - NAK as a line next game to see if there's something there.

Glad to hear Muzzin clarify that he isn't injured and that it's just back issues that he manages.

If Muzzin - Rielly works, I'd like our D even more since I still think Gio is a top 4 D.

Muzzin - Rielly
Gio - Brodie
Sandin - Liljegren

Best skating D Reilly should be fine as RHD
Otherwise Jarnkok it is ;)

And shoutout to Bobby McMann who made himself noticable out there in a good way. 7 hits, 4 shots and 1 block in 16 mins stuffed the stat sheet.

I see him knocking at the door and potentially a much better 4th line player than either Brooks or Amadio from last season. he looks hungry out there. Sounds easy but not everyone fighting for a spot looks hungry.

Very interesting

All it takes is one coach to break historical templates and the floodgates open

I mean as the game consistently focuses on skating and smarts it is only a matter of time before someone tries 4 forwards
5F and 1D is a natural with the goalie out late game. Don't think any of the forwards need to be defined as a D in this or similar late game scenarios.

Very interesting camp so far. For me McMann has the lead for a 4th line spot, out of the bubble guys of course. Simmonds probably has a spot locked up due to salary/seniority. Clifford can be a Marlie and called up when injuries happen.

Out of the younger, smaller skilled wingers I think one of Malgin or Robertson starts the year in the top 6 with Tavares out to start the year. Robertson may have more upside and a missile for a shot but Malgin is definitely more poised with the puck. With Engvall missing some time it's almost a guarantee one of them make it into the top 2 lines. Steeves also very much in the mix. If he starts the year as the #1C down on the Marlies I have a feeling he dominates the AHL this year. SDA almost a non factor this camp unfortunately.

I really think we need to give Robertson a legit shot in the top 6 this year to start the season. He’s ”earning” it camp, so it isn’t being gifted to him, but as an organization if all things are equal he gets the edge over a Malgin for me, because the potential is greater, even if one looks more polished today.

7 hits in his 2nd pre-season game last night. What i've liked from McMann is he clearly knows his role and the style he needs to adopt to make this team. That's something I think Anderson has struggled with in his showings. Lack of identity.

Malgin, Holmberg, Steeves, Robertson, and McMann all deserve extended looks. Hard calls.

Come to think of it next year's camp prospects should be VERY interesting. Knies, Niemela, Hirvonen and (hopefully) Amirov. Wow, the Marlies are gonna be stacked and exciting.

Yeah pretty cool that we have all these pretty interesting prospects in camp right now and yet 4 of the top 5 prospects aren't even here.

Go Leafs Go.

Best training camp/offseason in years.

I'll say it again:

In previous years there were few spots to speculate on. Now there's 4 or 5 depending on the injuries to the defence. I'd be shocked at this point if we saw Simmonds and Clifford playing in the opening game.

For the first time in a while it feels like a camp with some spots available and competitive fire. Not every position handed over.

Partly the cap. Partly I think anyway... good solid mid tier signings and prospects being properly developed....finally.

it helps that we aren't gifting spots to old guys like Spezza, Thornton, Simmonds, Bogosian this time.
