I saw this tweet yesterday using this data Dunn long term is a better option than Faulk. That's why I'm against trading Dunn. I hope the Blues expose Faulk and the Kraken take him.

Remind me Faulks contract again? A Doug Armstrong deal that they want to try to bury or act like it never happened. Maybe this year is Faulks breakout year.

Who is burying it? Its been pretty openly disliked around here by most since he started playing.

You find a better replacement if you lose Faulk. Given that he doesn’t seem to be well thought of by our coaching staff as a guy worth giving PP time, I am not sure how much value he brings. The PP was historically where he brought the most value. And I am saying that based on the starting PP units we are seeing in camp, plus his PP time last season.

While I do agree in hoping he gets picked by Seattle(I want the opportunity to sign one of Hamilton/Savard/Larsson), I can totally understand why he doesn’t play the PP.

You’re not gonna put Krug/Dunn on the PK, so by default he has to play it. I don’t think they’re quite comfortable yet with him playing 2nd pairing, plus both special teams units, so it makes sense.

The best possible thing for Faulk’s production(and tbh the team’s defensive play in general) would be for us to trade Dunn, and replace him with Mikkola. Niko would take the 4th PK spot, and Faulk would obviously take over Dunn’s spot on PP2.

Based of Niko’s play in camp, and the remarks from Berube/media, I could see this potentially happening.

I am not wild about the Hoffman signing. I think he comes with some baggage not the most well liked player when he was in Ottawa curious to see how he will mesh in the locker room. Being Canadian and watching and attending many of his games he is pretty selfish player in general. Has a great shot but I hope he develops under the Blues leadership can't see the coach putting up with that for long.
ROR was supposedly a locker room cancer before coming here too

I would be thrilled to have any one of those three instead of Faulk! I also think that signing any one of them to a shorter contract than Faulk's is not just possible in the current environment, but likely.

These are 3 very different players. Hamilton is great and is going to be super expensive, although he think he resigns in Carolina. The other 2 I have doubts. Savard is strong defensively but has limited puck skills and I question his fit in our system. Larsson is similar to Savard but probably not as good. Neither of them is as strong all around as Faulk.

Ask Erik Karlsson I don't think they are even remotely the same caliber player ROR didn't really have any issues with players it was more coaching and management within the Sabres organization from what I understand.

Hamilton is obviously my preferred choice, but Savard/Larsson would be brought in to play opposite of Krug, or be on a complete shutdown pairing with Scandella/Mikkola.

This is what I had in mind

Scandella/Mikkola-Parayko
Krug-Savard/Larsson
Mikkola/Scandella-Perunovich
Bortuzzo

or

Krug-Parayko
Scandella/Mikkola-Savard/Larsson
Mikkola/Scandella-Perunovich
Bortuzzo

Krug/Parayko/Perunovich would get PP time, and Parayko/UFA/Scandella/Mikkola would be on PK.

I dunno. Would rather have Faulk and Dunn. Worried that our transition would suffer too much if you replace them with Mikkola and Savard.

I think with Krug, Dunn, Perunovich coming up, and Parayko taking on a more offensive role, we have more than enough PMD's. We need to add a defensive oriented defender.

First period.

Regulars look fine to good except Dunn looks kind of sloppy/lazy. I like Neighbours' battle and how he looks around. Saw him shoulder-check to make sure he was covering the right guy on the backcheck multiple times.

Not as crisp overall as I'd like and not enough pressure from the fringe guys. Vitale keeps talking about Walman as a kid who is pushing for a spot and I don't really see it. He's a capable call-up/taxi squad guy, but I'll have to see a LOT more from him to think he looks remotely like he's pushing for a roster spot. Sometimes I get the same vibe from Vitale as I do from Chase when there's a lackluster western Canadian boy he can gush over. Or Basil McRae's kid. If it were up to Chaser, the Blues would have signed Phil McRae to a 7 million dollar contract when he was 20. I love that local media isn't Srs Bsnsssss, but I'd like a little bit more clarity/critique from time to time. There reaches a point at which every kid and old grinder gets so many compliments that you have no idea who is actually performing and what any of these media people really think.

Dunn was super sloppy there. Midseason form.
