I would love that New Jersey or Anaheim deal, unfortunately I don’t see Marner waiving to go to any of those destinations. I think LA would be at the top of the list for Marner to waive to, if he were to even waive. If Marner goes for a reasonable extension
Marner for nemec and Dawson? (With extension)?
Marner for Dobson?
Marner for jiricek and sillinger?
Marner for Mctavish?

Tavares and Lily? Good luck with that.jt would look great on jets . Front of the next , screen , tip, win face offs
Jt and lil for Ehlers, pionk and Barron
Assuming nmc are waived
Marner for B.Tkachuk + picks, then proceed to trade those said picks with a + to acquire a d-partner for Rielly. If Marner goes for a reasonable extension

I wonder if he’d like Detroit so he could play with his buddy Dylan Larkin. Doubt you get anything more than Tkachuk for Marner. But I also doubt a move that big happens with a rival. LolMarner for B.Tkachuk + picks, then proceed to trade those said picks with a + to acquire a d-partner for Rielly.
The whole outlook of the team has now changed.
Sens are not trading BT to the Leafs for Marner and the thought of him wanting $12+m. I doubt Nylander gets you much after his new deal kicks in. Face it, we are f***ed with the 3 amigos making what they are making and not being able to take it to the next level in the playoffs. Throw in Tavares at $11m and expect the same results next year.Doubt you get anything more than Tkachuk for Marner. But I also doubt a move that big happens with a rival. Lol

Hard to believe Tre chose to overpay Nylander rather than trade him for less than market value or let him walk for the cap space. That decision may now force him to overpay Marner because there is no better option. Sigh. What a joke the Leafs are on and off the ice.All they have to do is let them walk.
Effectively, it is trading the players for $22mm in Cap Space.
Sure, you might not get back the same talent in 1 player (in free agency), but has that 1 player proven to be successful when the going gets heavy?
Leafs wouldn't be breaking up the 1980's Oilers ...
I agree, BT isn’t going anywhere and I highly doubt Marner would want to re-sign long term in Ottawa, especially growing up as a hardcore Leafs fan.Sens are not trading BT to the Leafs for Marner and the thought of him wanting $12+m. People are more level headed with me but depending on how the team goes out, my gloves would be coming off as GM in terms of the handling of these players.
You can hold on to one of Nylander and Marner at those cap hits but not both IMO. If they are punted by the Bruins and Pelley decides they have to break up the core, they can ask Marner where he is willing to sign and they can work out a deal, they can use him as an own rental or they can try to sign him for a team friendly number. If they chose to move on, I still say Marner would be open to a trade. Seriously, only a loser would want to stick around where he is not wanted.I agree, BT isn’t going anywhere and I highly doubt Marner would want to re-sign long term in Ottawa, especially growing up as a hardcore Leafs fan.
If they get bounced in round one, I’m praying they at least explore moving Marner. Very unlikely though, I get that.
I would hold onto Nylander though, even under that new contract. Bertuzzi and Nylander worked really well IMO, that would be 2/3rds of my ideal second line.
I completely agree. I would keep Nylander over Marner only because we’ve seen him take over offensively and win us a game. His skating and shooting abilities are elite and you need that in today’s game. We can find good PKers further down the lineup. I also really dislikes how Marner speaks with the media, Nylander on the other hand is made for this market. You can hold on to one of Nylander and Marner at those cap hits but not both IMO. Pre contract Nylander over Marner is a non brainer IMO. I cannot blame him if he is pissed at the role he has been given. You do not pay him $11.5m and then put him on line #3 with plugs. That should go to Tavares at this point.I completely agree. I would keep Nylander over Marner only because we’ve seen him take over offensively and win us a game. He could have moved Nylander but nobody was offering a #1D. Should have made a similar trade to the PLD trade if one was out there. He did the worst thing he could do. Caved at the mid season point.Should have happened during their RFA contract negotiations, or at the very latest after we lost to Montreal.
We've coddled and overpaid our stars for far too long. Unfortunately for Treliving, he literally had less than a month until the NMCs kicked in, so he was given insufficient time to address things.

Calgary received a first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, defenseman Daniil Miromanov and a conditional third-round pick in the 2025 draft from Vegas.
That includes Mo he is a good offensive player but dI'm hopeful new management will communicate to JT and Marner that they're going in a different direction come 2025 and honour your contracts if you'd like but we won't be renewing. Or pick your destination and play out final year elsewhere.
Auston Matthews is the only untouchable here, everyone and everything else should be on the table. I don't want to hear anything about NMCs, they're in place to protect the player from being traded to an unwanted destination. The core needed a shakeup after the 2021 Habs series, this is long, long overdue.
