Huge assumption. Won’t, can’t, hadn’t yet. As for it being an underwhelming offseason. Can people show even the tiniest bit of patience? It’s not even July 1st yet and so many are whining similar sentiments.

Also Tanev at 5M is fine if the term is short (4 years absolute max). The long long term should only have been on the table for a cheaper AAV

Except it’s a completely empty threat. And the player and his agent would know it.
Once the season starts they are going to play their roster in the way that best helps them win. So he won’t be playing 3rd line minutes because that isn’t the optimal lineup if he is on the team.

Gonna be a regretful set of events. I get it as well. I hope the Leafs can get good value in some way.

It blows my mind the Leafs didn't do any roster trades at the draft for this reason.
