why would it be idiotic? We have people calling for the team to be harsh and do things to make us better. Liljegren is a soft dman. The guy gets blown up every playoffs. I don’t see how people can be mad at Marner’s play and watch Liljegren and want him anywhere near this team next year

D-men take time to develop in genereal. Liljegren is about 190ish NHL games, Rielly didn't break out offensively until 300+ games. I think Lily will get better eventually. He just lacked confidence IMO; and that had more to do with the trash that Keefe was than the player himself IMO.

Personally I would keep Liljegren and given him another year or two; dump Timmins instead. I think under Berube Lily can improve quite a bit and he would be nearing 300ish NHL games and then if he is still not it we can trade him or just walk away.

At least if I was Treliving thats what I'd do. I wouldn't roll the dice on Liljegren just yet.... we need some young d-men as a fallback safety net plan; and if I had to choose I'd easily pick Liljegren to stick around. I think he has another gear.

That’s a lot of cap with goaltending and forwards not sorted out yet. Only would be doable if the marner deal does in fact go down.

McCabe costs only $2M, I don’t see what trading him and keeping Liljegren does for us when Liljegren will probably get paid more than $2M

Rielly - Tanev
Zadorov - Roy
McCabe - Benoit

Looks better

It would certainly be nice to go into the next 4 year window with most of our D locked up and it actually being a strength of this roster for once.
I worry where the puck offense is from the D besides Rielly?

That is a better version of:

Rielly - Lub
McCabe - lilijgren
Benoit - Edmunson

But that dcore above limited bostons chances and goals pretty well but were useless at providing offense

We need McCabe to either be Skeji (move zadorov to 3rd pair) or Benoit out and a PP specialist in

I just don’t know why you have to sign Domi right now. I seriously doubt anyone is giving him more than that tomorrow

Tanev even at 6 years ... If he can stay healthy for 3 or 4 of those years
.. the last 2 won't be a big deal. Cap is going way up.

Zad I'm worried about how long and money... but who knows. It'd be nice to see under 5 but I could see Tre being stupid on that one.

Tanev is 34. I think he is done at 36 and will be an anchor unless he is on Robidas Island

Would you guys take a flyer on Taylor Raddysh? Put up 20 goals a few years and could bounce back. Has some size as well.

Curious that the Blackhawks aren’t qualifying him though.

4 years at under $4 million isn’t too bad. That’s basically a small raise on what Kerfoot used to make in a new cap environment. And Domi has a personality. Maybe 1 year too long but it is what it is.

any 4 year deals right now will end with Matthews' current contract. I don't mind 4 year deals LOL

No reason not to keep Liljegren around due to cost and age but if you think he’s going to take a quantum leap in development I have my doubts. His compete level is on the low side and that’s not something that improves with time. His biggest problem outside of being neither offensively productive and defensively strong is opponents push him out of games too easily.

Rielly Tanev
Zadorov McCabe
Benoit Boosh/Edmundson

Damn that top four would be impressive. A Zadorov-McCabe combo will scare the living shit out of any team who faces them.

Yeah I would actually. 6’3” 20 goal scorer at 24 a couple of years ago. 2016 second rounder. If you were ever to follow Florida’s lead and try to find the next Verhaeghe or Marchment for cheap that’s where your start looking.
