I would LOVE that but I doubt VERY much the Sens would send him here plus doesn't he need a contract?
He is asking for 5 M, which is the hold up. He just got suspended last year for off the ice activities. You would think he would sign a 1 year deal to put that behind him, and then make demands next summer, but No... he wants a multi-year deal at 5 M.

Columbus have a lot of center now, I would try to trade for Kent Johnson and give him 3rd center position for one season
If Marner is not waiving to Columbus what can the leafs offer that would make Columbus consider any trade for Johnson with the leafs?

I don't think it's the stars, I think it's the fans.

You've been here long enough - when has this fanbase ever been satisfied with its stars for more than a brief spell?
Well that's it then! Next year I resolve to take my 1st line fan shift more seriously! I've got to cheer HARDER and maybe just maybe we'll win that darn Cup!

You think it’s the fans fault there’s unhappiness with a team that has won 1 round of playoff hockey since 2004?

The State of Florida has won 4 Stanley Cups and been to 7 finals in that time for reference. And you think it’s the fans. No I don’t think it’s the fans.
Now Stephen, all us fans gotta buckle down and CHEER HARDER! It's not up to the players to deliver, it's up to US!

Not sure what Ottawa would be looking for in return for Pinto but I’d be willing to move Liljegren, Jarnkrok and a 2nd rounder. Use the money that’s going out the door to re-sign Pinto and convince Robertson to stay with a spot in the lineup.

Knies - Matthews - Domi
McMann - Pinto - Nylander
Robertson - Tavares - Marner

Pretty well balanced lines from 1 to 3.

why would you trade liljgren?
He’s the next in line to be the next D whipping boy, following a long tradition for Leaf fans.
While something’s gotta give, the D has nice shape. Taking the top 7 into account:
3 guys at their arcs - Tanev, OEL, Hakanpaa
2 guys in their prime- Reilly, McCabe
2 guys approaching their prime, age and experience wise - Lili, Benny
Timmins around the third group.
Shutdown types: Tanev, Hakanpaa, Benny, McCabe
Thugs: Benny, Hakanpaa
Puck movers/PP options: Reilly, OEL, Lili (Timmins, too)
It’s pretty easy to see versatility with pairings and matchups. Pretty realistic to see all those guys get even playing time during the regular season.
4 LHD, 3RHD, one guy who can switch pretty easily
Not all star laden, but solid, experienced, flexible.
6 waiver exempt Marlies: Niemela, Webber, Mattinen, Rifai, Kokkonen, Villeneuve. 5/6 have multiple years or pro experience, the 6th is a mature uni grad playing lots of years against men. Niemela has NHL upside, especially as he grows. Rifai is call up ready.
That’s pretty nice organizational depth.

Without a trade we've got 2.85m to re-sign Dewar and add a 4RW/13F to platoon with Reaves, some names

Blackwell
Entwistle
Blais
Pitlick

If we keep the Dewar/4RW combo to 2m, that's 2.1+.85 (Jarncrok) or 2.4+.85 (Kampf) to go after a top 9 forward.

I still think without a trade hayton is the way to go

Does Antoine have the Breakdowns of oel and Tanev.

I don’t see anything. About SB and trade protection on cap friendly

Just mailing it in

Cause he's still relatively young. He's played good at times and bad other times but he's played less than 200 games.
He's literally going backwards in his development curve. He still can't even be a regular in the playoffs because how much of a detriment he is to the team come postseason time. This kid has NOT DEVELOPED AT ALL in the last 2 years.

Not this most recent WC, but the one prior. He was one of the surprising standouts, and obviously, he's had CB as a coach for a while.

So, there could be a fit.

Ottawa Senators president and general manager Steve Staios shut down a rumour Monday that centre Shane Pinto has requested trade.

Pinto is once again a restricted free agent this summer after going into the season unsigned last fall before he was handed a 41-game suspension for violating the NHL's gambling policy. He signed a one-year, $775,000 deal to resume playing as soon as the suspension ended, finishing the season with nine goals and 27 points in 41 games.

“I was made aware of something that was out there, that has been refuted now, but the negotiations continue to move on,” Staios said. “Sometimes these things take time, but Shane knows what we think of him, and we’ll continue to work at it.

“He didn’t ask for a trade.”

Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reported last month the Boston Bruins asked about Pinto's availability as the two teams worked towards a Linus Ullmark trade, but were told he was not available. Garrioch now adds(opens in a new tab) that contract talks are currently at an impasse, with Pinto's agent looking for an offer sheet which the Senators would match.

The 23-year-old forward broke out in 2022-23, his first full season in the league, with 20 goals and 35 points in 82 games. He has 30 goals and 70 points in 140 career games with Ottawa.

The Franklin Square, NY native was selected 32nd overall by the Senators in the 2019 draft.

A whole 2 sample size example from 3 years ago You sure got him.

It's not perfect nor did anyone claim it is. It's been useful to have an idea where a contract might fit based on performance. It's not that serious at all.
