The blues are like 2 points out of a playoff spot. They aren’t trading Brayden. We’re probably looking at a Laughton/Ristolainen trade

Making trades is tough. I don't think we have the pieces to do anything but add depth. Many deadlines now are letdowns.

I hope we have a foot in the door on Cozens.
For approximately the same cost as Schenn, we could load up our centers for the next 6 years.
I wonder if 2026 1st, minten and Domi would get it close.

Anything but Schenn for around those prices. The Schenn cost is crazybrained

I appreciate Treliving's vision that he needs to keep picks and assets to build his team and doesn't like spending at TDL like Dubas.

However he needs to wake up and realize where he is actually at. The team if it has any window left is small. Next few seasons before half the defense is in a retirement home and Matthews has the right to walk (this is assuming we keep Marner or are able to somehow come out of that at least even).

Sitting on his hands in year 9 of Matthews / Marner / Nylander on coach #3 with everyone being aware the president is being fired this season and us losing a massive asset in Marner due to mismanagement previously is not an option.

Now put in the fact we have been first in the division for the first time EVER all year (a real division) and basically every team we could face in the first 2 rounds are either badly flawed or missing key parts to injuries (Panthers)...

BRRRAAAADDDDD

Keep in mind there could be a spay between players we don't know about, room issues etc. You do not know the entire story, maybe even the severity of Matthews injury

I don't care he has to go for it. If not now, when? For all we know by next season the Wings / Sens rebuild finally surpasses us and they win the division and the old guard start slowing into wildcard teams.

This is the year

On today's 32 thoughts Friedman says the Leafs will get a forward, probably a C. They will also look for D depth. The only name he talked about during the whole Leafs segment was Rantanen but not as a serious option.
