I don't think ROR waives to play for the Leafs again

Technically he doesn’t have trade protection, but either way it’s hard to say with Berube being here now. Whether he would want to come back or not likely depends on what’s the truth about his choice to leave.. some reports say it was the media scrutiny while others say it was coaching related.

Laughton + a retained Ristolainen would be somewhat interesting in a vacuum, but Philly would want more than they are worth given their “intangibles.”

I would try and pry Carlo out of Boston. Not sure if they trade him in division, but he’s still young, rhd, makes 4.1 and is excellent ok the PK. Would really solidify our defence. Couple that with a smaller forward add and I think that’s a great deadline.

We need a dman before a top center.

Defence wins championships

So OEL left the game last night and Tanev is already out.

At the time of this post as far as I'm aware there is no update on OEL and Tanev is day to day.

Maybe OEL is good to go next gam.

If not e is some combination of

Rielly Benoit

Timmins Myers.

That's potentially your top 4 next game.

I feel like when everybody is healthy they needed a piece So I would have been looking at Savard or Murphy or Carlo etc. to begin with.

If both Timmins and Myers are in the top 4 you need to do something about that.

The way I see it Minten lands B Schenn and a 3rd lands L Schenn. You then have Florida's 2nd to land a gritty winger. We are going to pay a price somewhere. If I'm another GM only Cowan or Minten make me pick up.

+ Charlie Coyle

Wouldn’t be surprised if Laughton was the guy we add. However trading either our 1st or Minten is insane unless we’re getting more from Philly. I’d be fine with something like our 2nd and Robertson for Laughton.

Leafs should really just wait until the deadline at this point. See what shakes out by then. Let the other teams fight over Schenns and Laughtons of the world.

EDIT: They won't, but they should. I'm expecting Tre to get a 'name'. Feels like a Burke type move.

Apparently rantanen would be fine being a maple leaf
Other than going back to colorado
Hed be fine with austin mathews
It is the next best fit .

Where is this from. Not doubting just interested.

If he could be a c I would extend him. And deal with it.

All eyes are on Carolina, where — crazy as it sounds — there’s been all kinds of speculation about Mikko Rantanen being traded for a second time this year if he and the Hurricanes can’t figure out the framework of a new deal.

Speaking on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman noted everyone might be able to take a bit of a breath after the Canes’ big 5-2 win over Buffalo on Thursday night. The victory put a halt to the struggles of both team and player, as Rantanen had a goal and an assist in what was surely his best night in a new uniform. “Everything that Carolina needed to happen happened, because now everyone is going to calm down a little bit,” Friedman said.

Let’s see where things go from here.

Essentially, Friedman believes the Canes will take all the time they can in exploring the possibility of inking Rantanen to a new deal. As he points out, if Carolina does not move Rantanen before the deadline, it will be the only club that can offer him an eight-year deal, as a player must be on a club’s pre-deadline roster to get maximum term. He believes Carolina’s standing offer to Rantanen is roughly $12.6 million per year, which would match the number Rantanen’s old teammate, Nathan MacKinnon, draws in Colorado. Is that enough to get it done? Friedman thinks the swirl of rumours right now will eventually give way to some clear direction.

“We’re all going to be guessing until we have some clarity, and I would assume we’ll have some level of clarity about the way this is going early-to-mid next week,” he said.

Friedman said and I agree that our number 1 target of people we call on is Adam Larson.

I would take him in a second if it’s even remotely possible.

I would give up Minten/1 for him.

Since when did Larsson turn 32? Time flies

He’d be perfect for Reillys right side and rounds out the top 4. But we’d be going into the next 3 years with a D that are all on the wrong side of 30.

I think Savard is name we don’t chat about enough. To me, I like him better than Schenn.

Perfect partner for Mo.

Likely a 2nd or a 3rd rounder.

2nd
Jarnkrok (Cap)

For

Savard

Yep. Larson and 50% gourde would be pretty perfect.

Knies. Matthews. Marner.
Mcmann Tavares. Nylander
Robby. Gourde. Domi
Lorentz. Kampf. Pacioretty.

With dewar/reeves/holmberg/steeves to fill in any gaps depending on who we trade out (Kampf/domi/robbie)

McCabe. Tanev
Rielly. Larsen
Oel. Myers
Benoit

I could see Robertson, 1st, minten for Larson and for 50% gourde.

Then you have your D and G set.

Which Flyers are likely to be traded?

Scott Laughton, C/LW
: Every year Laughton is rumored to be on the trade block. The forward is well-equipped to handle the chatter by now, but could this be the year he is finally moved? A reliable two-way center who can also be productive on the wing and as a penalty killer, Laughton has versatility that is attractive to teams looking to make a Stanley Cup run. He also has one year left after this season at a $3 million cap hit and would not just be a rental for rumored landing spots, including Winnipeg, which the Flyers play on Saturday, and his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs. He also would bring value to any locker room.

Rasmus Ristolainen, D
: If coach John Tortorella had his way, the Flyers would keep the blueliner because, “If you trade him Friday, then on Saturday, you say, [expletive], I need a big, right-handed defenseman.” Ristolainen also has term — two years beyond this season at a $5.1 million clip — and, what Tortorella considers, a favorable contract. But there is no denying Ristolainen is a marquee trade chip for the Flyers as teams look to get bigger for the postseason.

Erik Johnson, D
: Johnson, who turns 37 next month, is a pending unrestricted free agent and could be a good option for a playoff team looking to add depth to its defensive core. Although he hasn’t played much this season, he has looked steady when called upon and has the postseason experience — i.e., a Stanley Cup — teams look for in a sixth or seventh blueliner.

Wait, they're not getting any certainty on their big UFAs, there's 90%+ chances that Minten or Cowan are moved according to Kyper and they're targeting extremely mid middle six centres?

I’m not against Larsson by any means if that’s what we get. I’m not against Schenn either if that’s what’s doable. They both certainly are capable of helping Rielly, but imo our biggest need on the backend is actually puck moving ability / heavy shot. That’s generally more expensive though

Didn't Seattle extend Larsson already?

If he's available, he's top target for sure. Unless Parayko is available, which he isn't.

If we're out on Brayden, can we still get Luke?

I would like to have Luke (or a Luke-a-like) with Mo and an RD partner for OEL to push Benoit to #7. If we can swing it.

Unless Hakanpaa is actually going to play at some point. Which seems unlikely.
