completely out on Brayden Schenn. So I definitely expect Treliving to trade for him lol
Can't say I'm a huge fan either unless the price is below that of a true difference maker. He's still solid, but he's on decline and at 33 he may not have many more years left. Aging tends to happen quickly now especially at his age.

You can fit Parayko and Krebs into our lineup by trading away the following players; Kampf, Reaves, Dewar... Maybe Jarnkrok as well, though I've got him on LTIR for the calculation. Patches, Myers, Grebenkin sent to the minors. 21 man roster... it's a bit thin.

From The Hockey News...

The struggling St. Louis Blues face missing the playoffs for the third-straight season. Some pundits believe GM Doug Armstrong could become a major seller by the March trade deadline.

Armstrong had a press conference about a week ago, where he said the following; "Chipping away and going up the roster." hinted at changes to come. The challenge being, is he's often asked too much for players, and that's stopped some deals from happening.

Agreed, but I also don't interpret "chipping away" as trading their captain and #1D.

But maybe!

For me it’s Schenn and Savard. I have tried to be realistic on what it costs and not just being a homer.

Schenn 25% retained (Gonna be pricey)

for…

1rst
Minten
Cowan
Jarnkrok
Kampf

Savard 50%

For

2nd
3rd
Grebs

Knies Matthews Domi
McMann JT Marner
Robertson Schenn Nylander
Dewar Lorentz Holmberg

McCabe Tanev
Rielly Savard
OEL Benoit

Stolarz
Woll

Its too price dependent to speculate without talking specifics IMO. A pricey Schenn makes me think there are better deals had elsewhere. If we're paying 2C/3C prices then OK, but I suspect we'll need to pay a premium which should be absolutely off limits for a dude his age. If we're talking a 1st + one of Minten and/or Cowan (to start) then I'm passing and looking elsewhere. Granlund was a good piece - too bad he's already off the board.

Lebrun saying Gourde could be a target if they miss out on Brayden Schenn and Scott Laughton...can I just say I am luke warm at best on all of these options?

Not impressed with Tree here, older guys with not much tread left on the tire or a small rental centre that's been injured a bunch this year.
Tre lacks creativity unfortunately, always has. He did well with Dougie Hamilton (and subsequently turning him into Lindholm and Hanifin) but those were definitely lucky situations that he hasn't been able to replicate. He is basically a better version of Nonis - ideally Tre would be a good AGM, not the guy you want running everything. Far too safe.

I'll let him actually do his moves but if they go out in round 1 again, I consider firing him this off-season, he didn't do much last TDL, only tinkered and if he thinks his choices are basically 3 turds at centre...not impressed.

I reference the Knights a lot but they managed to figure out they could get Tomas Hertl...and got him with retention for not a lot and they also acquired Noah Hanifin.

I get what you are saying... but I don't really see the need to spend anything to upgrade the bottom pair, if you push the rest down.

OEL + Timmins -> 6 goals for, 4 against, 57.5% Corsi, 50.9% Shots For
McCabe + Timmins -> 4 goals for, 2 against, 64% Corsi for, 61% Shots for.
McCabe + Benoit -> 8 goals for, 5 against, The shots for, and Corsi aren't good.

Both OEL and McCabe have been good with Tanev, but in any case if you do this.

OEL/McCabe Tanev
OEL/McCabe Timmins

We've got two pairings that have been effective, quite effective actually.

Benoit as #7 is pretty good.

The bottom line is also that we need a 3C, and to trade for a 3C, and two RD's, is likely beyond our resources.
We almost did that last year.
2-RHD and one 4th line centre
Cost of acquisition was:
Lyubushkin-3rd round pick with 50% retention + 6th round pick for additional 25% retention

Edmundson-3rd round pick and 5th round pick includes 50% retention

Dewer-4th round pick

All very reasonable to expect a similar haul this year.

Don't want that murderer anywhere near this team

He killed somebody during a high school rugby game in Mississauga. Not sure of the details, but I think he body slammed the guy or something. Of course, he didn't intend to kill, but it happened.

Thanks for the info.
Never knew that, that's awful.

Cizikas, a minor at the time, tackled someone during a game of rugby.
The tackle was not textbook and not done safely.
The other player had major lingering head trauma already and died a few days later due to complications related to the injury.

The victim's family viewed it as an accidental death and did not want to press charges, but the police laid charges anyway.

Cizikas was found guilty of manslaughter citing unnecessary force.

Cizikas has been apologetic and repentant and served his punishment.

Neither the victims family nor the law found Cizikas to be a "murderer" so we probably shouldn't throw that word around.

Understanding that there is nothing to be impressed with Tre here, or not. He hasn't done anything, and we have no idea if he has interest in those guys, or someone completely different.

What you aren't impressed with, is what the talking heads, including Lebrun are saying.

He's been relatively safe overall in his tenure here.

Last TDL played it very safe, a bunch of picks for not a lot.

The names we're linked to aren't all that exciting. We were linked to Edmundson and Lybubushkin last year, also Parayko but that never happened. Dewar kind of came out of nowhere but not exactly a "wow" move.

Vegas is definitely willing to be creative, and also savage / aggressive. The issue here too is with a corporate ownership they are hesitant to make those types of moves or get alignment on it.

Armstrong is under pressure no doubt... who knows what he is going to do, or ask.. but Parayko would be a nice add for sure. The talking heads have brought up his name... not that it means anything either.

According to Sportsnet's Justin Bourne, the Toronto Maple Leafs could be a team in on St. Louis Blues defenseman Colton Parayko.

Would much rather Parayko than Schenn.

Oh for sure. If he's in any way available, Brad should be all in. I just don't see it.

I would be happy to be wrong in

Kypreos is on something.

In the East, the Florida Panthers could be a team in the running for Rantanen if Matthew Tkachuk's long-term groin injury potentially ends his regular season. And don't rule out the Toronto Maple Leafs either, as they could acquire Rantanen as a bit of security in case Mitch Marner decides to head to free agency on July 1. They could seamlessly replace Marner with Rantanen on a line with Auston Matthews and could probably get an extension done.
