Again, if Parayko is available, you get him. Damn the cost. I don't think he is.

It's really hard to gauge who is and isn't available. Too many teams feel they are on the cusp to give up players with term I think.

Despite what Friedman said, are the Schenns truly even available?

There are a few obvious ones but I think it's going to be a weird deadline... Either weirdly quiet or absurd names being thrown around.

100% agreed.

If he truly is available you go get him because if you can, you have a cup winning defense.

Rielly Parayko

Tanev McCabe

OEL Benoit

That's a defense that can win

Obviously it's way too early to know what happens, but Nylander and Tanevs injury situation will be interesting to follow in the next few days. I assume Nylander will be fine but Tanev probably is out for a bit if I'm a betting man. Do you push his return to the playoffs and open up 4.5M in cap space? Losing him for 2 months will be tough.
Probably don’t have a choice. Dude was in a sling. That’s at the very least a few weeks. I think for sure he’s back for the playoffs. This could actually be a blessing. They now have 4.5 million of cap space to use. No excuse not to get a stud D-man now. Go get Parayko, I couldn’t care less what the price is. Can’t be getting guys like Lybushkin again. People are going to bring up the price but what are we doing here?? Going for a cup right! Myers, Benoit, Timmins in your top 4 is gross. Brad needs to go big this year.

Toronto scouts reported to be attending los angeles games (two straight). Last night they watched VGK-LAK game.

Who are they after ?

He’d be a massive upgrade at the Center ice position. Good for 20ish goals, plays a playoff style, and has term. Obviously if they way overpay it’s bad, but if not, what’s not to like?

Knies - Matthews - ?????
????? - Tavares - Marner
McMann - Schenn - Nylander

Looks like the bones of an excellent, balanced, top 9
This isn’t just the recent hot streak speaking from me, but I’ve always wondered what NickRob could do on a line with 16.

Plus. Last night was optimal Nicky. Playing with the grease he had more in junior. He can be an agitator.

Tanner Jeanot?
Maybe but like Justin Bourne said we gotta get off the mindset of big tough guys that can’t do anything. The issue with the Leafs in the playoffs is they can’t score and they get zero production from the D. They gotta go out and get Brayden, or plan B Laughton. And like I said earlier Parayko would be at the top of my list right now. Cowan/Minten/2026 FRP trade it all

Is Parayko really available? STL would be crazy to move him.

Plus how do they make the cap work?

If you're looking for significant offense, I don't think Schenn or Laughton are your targets...

Would have to make the roster lean, probably with waivers. Might lose a guy or two that you would rather not. Reaves, Pacioretty, Dewar, Timmins, Myers under consideration.

Also likely need to include one of Kampf or Jarnkrok going back. I would suggest Domi as well but that seems unlikely.

Doable, though tight.

Unless Tanev goes on LTIR. Then problem solved I guess....?

Bigger issue is I don't see why the Blues trade him. Or really anyone major.

They, like many teams this season, want to improve. Selling off key guys with term seems to go against that mandate.

To Toronto: Colton Parayko
To St. Louis: Easton Cowan + Conor Timmins + 2026 1st Rounder

To Toronto: Peyton Krebs (50% retained)
To Buffalo: Nick Robertson + 2025 3rd Rounder

To Toronto: 2026 5th Rounder
To New Jersey: David Kampf

Waive Reaves (Simmonds treatment). Waive, trade or LTIR Dewar.

Knies - Matthews - Domi
McMann - Tavares - Marner
Pacioretty - Krebs - Nylander
Lorentz - Holmberg - Jarnkrok

Rielly - Parayko
McCabe - Tanev
Ekman Larsson - Myers
Benoit

Stolarz - Woll

Lou is a wildcard and a stubborn fool, so trading with him is a pain.

But If the isles do sell...I can see Treliving having interest in Casey Cizikas

Does Kevin Hayes makes sense as a target? Played under Berube last year in St. Louis. Is a center and has Size, both of which the Leafs covet

If Pittsburgh retains a bit, does it make sense? He only has 9 goals so Idk how great he is

You can fit Parayko and Krebs into our lineup by trading away the following players; Kampf, Reaves, Dewar... Maybe Jarnkrok as well, though I've got him on LTIR for the calculation. Patches, Myers, Grebenkin sent to the minors. 21 man roster... it's a bit thin.

From The Hockey News...

The struggling St. Louis Blues face missing the playoffs for the third-straight season. Some pundits believe GM Doug Armstrong could become a major seller by the March trade deadline.

Armstrong had a press conference about a week ago, where he said the following; "Chipping away and going up the roster." hinted at changes to come. The challenge being, is he's often asked too much for players, and that's stopped some deals from happening.
