For that to work, we have to move Kampf, Domi, Reaves plus two mil in retention for RoR, or keep Jarnkrok on LTIR until the playoffs... which is seemingly unlikely.Cap would be real tricky to say the least, but imagine if we got Parayko and re-acquired Ryan O’Reilly. Yes, I know O’Reilly is no spring chicken, but both guys with term on reasonable contracts and would help immensely. Plus we already know O’Reilly works with this group, and he’s been really good in Nashville and is highly responsible.
Tavares and O’Reilly middle 6 with one of Marner and Nylander on each line still sounds like an excellent option to me. Knies with Matthews.
Pick your poison
Ah, fun times pulling the team apartOnly 10 more days, and then we can go back into how this team sucks and can't win, trade Marner and Matthews, etc.
I wouldn't mind Krebs but I'd prefer a #4-#5D who plays a certain way over big game hunting a guy like Parayko who's going to cost a fortuneFor that to work, we have to move Kampf, Domi, Reaves plus two mil in retention for RoR, or keep Jarnkrok on LTIR until the playoffs... which is seemingly unlikely.
If we went for a big name D, we'd have to go for a lower cap hit, lower name C. Parayko + Krebs for example isn't hard to accomplish.
Now, before we get excited about the difference between RoR and Krebs... let's look at the numbers 5v5.
RoR is putting up 1.14 Points/60, primarily playing with Nyquist and Forsberg
Krebs is putting up 1.38 points/60 primarily playing with Lafferty and Malenstyn.
The physical playoff warrior RoR has 14 hits on the season, Krebs has 96.

Crouse ranks in the top 25% of left wing goal scorers over the last three years playing on one of the worst teams in the league. Better numbers than McMann.Crouse is a winger, and he has never had a good season. he's just big.
According to Dreger (on Ray and Dregs), the Leafs “Top Target” is Brayden Schenn.
Not sure I like that …

He'd look great playing with Tavares and Nylander.

Their top targets last year through the season were Zadorov and Tanev, didn't happen.
Treliving will need to trim a lot of depth to make it work, or somehow get Armstrong to retain a good chunk.

Any trade for Schenn would involve significant Salary rentension. Probably invovled a 3rd team if need be to retain 50%.There is no creativity with this front office. Leafs keep bleeding out assets for old players or rentals. They can’t keep trying to fix major holes on the team at the trade deadline where the prices are stupid.
Not that I don’t like Schenn but he’s 33 and makes $6.5 mill for the next 3 years.
The defence is old without any real help in the pipeline and the centre depth doesn’t look good if the plan is to pay 34-year old Tavares $7 mill AAV and 33-year old Schenn $6.5 mill AAV for the next 3 years.
Would anyone really be upset if they overpaid for a young guy that fit the team? I know I wouldn’t.
McMann has already played there. Crouse would be an upgrade. So would mcmann

U can wish unless schenn wants to be in toronto why would he waive to come hereTheir top targets last year through the season were Zadorov and Tanev, didn't happen.

Yes, please2.5M retained for Brayden Schenn for 2026 1st and Max Domi?
2.5M retained for Brayden Schenn for 2026 1st and Max Domi?
You think Treliving will get Domi to waive his NTC if he has to? And if he doesn't have to because it's limited, you think he will trade Domi in the first year of his extension? I have serious doubts.
I also don't see the Blues retaining more than 1.5M for 3 years. And if you need them to retain that much, it will cost a lot more than a 1st round pick and a cap dump.

Maybe a 3 way deal with Toronto/St.Louis/San Jose.....where both the Blues and Sharks retain 25% each on Schenn and we get Brayden Schenn and Luke Kunin ?
Roster players from our team would have to be involved as well
