I love physicality (and Luke Schenn) probably more than anyone on here....but is Luke Schenn really an upgrade of Phillipe Myers?

Myers is just as physical and honestly, i think he's better/mobile.

The only case you can make for bringing Luke Schenn back is how good he looked next to Morgan Rielly I guess
that was to years ago, both players are on the decline, this won't end the way you hope it will.......

Common Trades.... Do something.

I'd rather not waste more assets on this core, the team could look radically different this off season, make the moves then..........

When it comes to Utah, Crouse is a name I would be interested in. He’s having a rough season but something screams Bennett situation in Calgary to me. We’d be set down the left side for the foreseeable future with Knies - Crouse - McMann, all big, strong and pretty a solid 200ft game.

If you could get them to include kesselring, even better.
buy low, sell hi...........

I get but to see GMs interact on the floor was cool speculation what they were talking about .

What's the sense of even having the players there.

Let the young players save money.

If it was ever held in Toronto I wouldn't go what's the sense

I’m sure the NHL pays for travel for top prospects or their agencies put up the money for them and their families. They still get to do the pictures and all of that for round 1 guys. The rest will stay at home and do a virtual thing like the NFL probably.

Yeah that was cool seeing the GM’s do that. A majority of conversation is through the phones anyways, so I think that’s another part of it.

Crouse is a winger, and he has never had a good season. he's just big.

Dvorak would be a cheap 3C add if they wanted to spend more on a RD.
I'd rather the Leafs play Minten. he's likely already as good offensively, and has a better 2-way game.

Keeping expectations in check, he's on pace for 47 points, playing 17:37 a game. On the third line here, he's playing ~14 minutes a game. That production will likely drop some, probably just below the 40 point pace.
Perhaps, but I always try to compensate for players playing on a bad team that go to a good team... I believe he plays with Kyrou and Holloway, but St Louis just stinks.

For sure the Agents would pay the tab for the families.

I'd say for what he does, Crouse had two pretty good seasons prior to this one, with 23/24 goals and low 40's in points... this year he's on pace for 20 points total, so it's definitely a bad year for him.

Minten has 10 points in 23 AHL games... that works out to a full season expectation of 17 points in the NHL. Dvorak will easily out point that for a few more years. Minten won't likely be a 3C, but will be a useful 4C for us, and help get rid of some of Kampf's cap offseason, or some time next year. It is a 3C we should be targeting to add this offseason (or now) for sure. (I'm not a fan of signing Dvorak for that spot though)

Utah GM says he wants to get bigger. He thinks his team is too small. I dont see them trading one of their only bigger guys in Crouse

We have limited cap space and B. Tanev is a 3.5M 9 goal scorer winger. He's a good grinder and all but even at 50% seems like a waste of precious cap space without filling a single needed spot. Gourde is injured until late March.

You're probably looking at Bjugstad, Kunin or Laughton.
I would love a Laughton/Hathaway package.
Drastically changes the bottom six

Dvorak is a part of the Montreal PK and their team is surprisingly decent at it, I would want a centre coming in to be able to do that for us.

5'9" 172 lbs!!!!!

We need to bring in someone to partner with Rielly, but he and OEL haven't been terrible together. 18 goals for, 18 goals against, nearly breaking even in shots, and possession... we need to be better though, that is for sure.
Those mistakes they make gamely with cost us when it matters I have no doubt

Item Three: Maple Leafs Eyeing Colton Parayko at Trade Deadline?

If this season has taught fans anything, it’s that solid defense is key to winning games. As the trade deadline approaches, one article suggested the Maple Leafs are increasingly interested in bolstering their defense rather than their offense. Recent speculation has focused on Colton Parayko, the St. Louis Blues defenseman, with Sportsnet’s Justin Bourne pointing to him as a top target for Toronto.

Landing Parayko, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound force on the blue line, would be a coup. In short, he’s a game-changer. He’s been impressive this season, pumping in 13 goals and adding 17 assists in 57 games. He also regularly chews up minutes by playing more than 24 minutes per game. His size, defensive power, and ability to contribute offensively make him a valuable asset.

Parayko’s contract has a $6.5 million cap hit through 2030. Given the coming salary-cap bump on the way, Bourne emphasized the long-term value he could bring to the Maple Leafs, especially considering his elite defensive play and offensive upside. Toronto could grow “bigger and bolder” by trading for Parayko. Furthermore, he already has a connection to Berube from their time together during the 2019 Stanley Cup run. However, with just $2.2 million in current cap space this season, trading for Parayko would require a bit of creative magic. Would the Blues retain some salary?

Parayko’s long-term potential could make him a perfect fit for a team looking to solidify its defense for the future. If the organization can make it work, Parayko would be a significant addition for a deep playoff run.

Would sending down Steeves make us cap-compliant or do we need to move more money around?

No, Steeves alone makes us compliant.. but Grebenkin is currently on the roster too... so he could be sent to instead and it would work.

If Matthew Tkachuk gets put on the LTIR until the playoffs, I can see Florida being interested the Schenn brothers package.

I think the Vegas and Tampa are other teams who are interested in that package.

I would be so down for this to happen and I’ve said as much for like 2 years at this point. He’d help us a lot.

We need a middle 6 center as well either way imo though.

Cap would be real tricky to say the least, but imagine if we got Parayko and re-acquired Ryan O’Reilly. Yes, I know O’Reilly is no spring chicken, but both guys with term on reasonable contracts and would help immensely. Plus we already know O’Reilly works with this group, and he’s been really good in Nashville and is highly responsible.

Tavares and O’Reilly middle 6 with one of Marner and Nylander on each line still sounds like an excellent option to me. Knies with Matthews.

Pick your poison

They can easily get cap complaint to fit Jarnkrok, the problem becomes if they want to add quality player (or two). Steeves and I think Greb are on the roster. They could waive Reaves, etc.

Leafs will likely get busy very soon

Speaking after morning skate Tuesday ahead of Toronto’s matchup against the Boston Bruins, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube gave a very typical answer on how close Järnkrok is to returning.

“He’s close. He’s very close. There’s some things that have to be done with… you know, stuff,” Berube said, evoking a laugh from the media. “But, you know, he’s feeling excellent and he has to see the doctor, and we’ll do that shortly here, but he’s feeling great on the ice, like he’s really ready to play.”

Trent Fredric might be a harder buy due to Rivalry and divisional reasons...but I wouldnt be shocked if someone like Justin Brazeau is more attainable.

Don't think he's a player the Bruins would 100% say no to a divisional rival, if the deal is right. He fits the "Big and physical" bottom 6 player target Im sure Treliving and Berube would like

Parayko + Kunin additions this deadline would be unreal.
I would also be okay with Parayko and Dvorak (money retained).

Dvorak is a consistent 30+ point player who gets goals in the teen range. Also, a good PKer. A "not bad" 3C, overall.

Also, Domi-Dvorak-Marner were an insane OHL line. Yes, I know that this does not really predict anything, but, hey, it's something!
