That bigger cap is how they will afford the top end salaries they seem unable to say no to.. Overpay by $2M next summer for Ekblad not for another forward.6.5 on a 95 104 and 114 cap is fine

Which still has nothing to do with the fact that he was on a top line with top linemates. He out produced his closest linemate by 46 points. Tavares is producing better offensively this season than any other Bruin that season. I’m not sure your argument has legs here.
Lots of subjective drivel that’s been overdone in this forum. I assume since you value goals>>points>>defense you would have preferred Kyle Connor to Nylander and Marner over that same time frame?
I’ll speculate he re-signs. So 10 years of Pietrangelo vs 14 of Nylander. They re-signed all of their other top players so why would Pietrangelo be the exception?
What does top linemates mean in this context? He played with players who couldn’t keep up with him offensively and he still put up 60g.Which still has nothing to do with the fact that he was on a top line with top linemates.
I don't think the Kadri trade was exclusively, or even mainly, a desperate trade to fix D.If you talked about overal impact, Marner had more impact than Nylander
If you talking about quality/price, Nylander bring a better quality/price. So depend how you want to see this.
And if Toronto would had trade nylander for pietrangelo, maybe they wouldn't had trade Kadri in a desesperate trade to fix D. They probably wouldn't sign brodie 5M .
That would affect every decision leafs made and a lot of thing would be diferent
He has come back a bit because he was truly horrendous last year. $8M AAV is the issue because the Leafs are stretched to the limit to pay their forwards. I actually think he could be a bounce back candidate but they would need a low purchase cost and 50% retention IMO which I don't see the Ducks doing. If the return isn't there they just keep him till next year.Any word on how Jacob trouba has been playing since the trade?
Always wanted him but seems to have had a hard time this season
You're gonna get Luke Kunin, Laughton or injured Gourde, unfortunately.I've had enough of bringing in old guys and hoping they produce as they age out of the league
If we're giving up assets it's time to think of now and the future, young guys on bad teams can improve in better situations, they can score more with better linemmates, they can improve as they hit there mid to late 20's
I know which one I'd rather roll the dice on
The term "mammoth" as it relates to the return for Brayden Schenn, does not excite me.
Utah needs to move a defenceman. Cole/Maata are two guys I like as our depth defenceman. Both can play both sides and have a pair of cup rings.
I’m sure they are not giving him away by any means but there is just no way his value would be that high. Sensationalism
Maybe it’s time we got Durzi back.
That ship has sailed, if we wanted him back we needed to get him when LA moved him to Utah
Well he's not setting the world on fire in Utah these days.
He’d have to play to even have the chance
He can't stay fit, he's not bad when he does play thoughWell he's not setting the world on fire in Utah these days.
Saw the article mentioned but I’m not a subscriber. We are last in the league for D goals at 13.
The Athletic put out a piece on Toronto's Top 5 best d-man trade targets, and their goal totals: 1, 1, 4, 1, 1 I guess that helps defensively, but doesn't seem to help the lack of offense from the back end.
