They call him a C but he isn't a great FO guy and he is a very distant 4th on the Sharks for draws taken. You are thinking as a winger and occasional C? He does hit a ton and pk.

48,2% is not that bad on FO, its actually more than Domi, holmberg or Minten

And hes RH, not a bad thing to have one RHC in your line up

Whoever take Gourde may be throwing away the assets he costs up front.

He's old and broken.

A lot of player still help in early 30... marchessault won conn smythe 2 years ago at 32... and at 33 Gourde still have thing to bring at the good price

He still play with grit, he still a player who having ability to raise his game when its matter, hes a great leader by exemple who will bring intensity when thing goes wrong..He can adapt his game basically to every system because hes making thing simple. If his actual season just make his value goes down, would just be a good thing in my mind because

He may not even be healthy before March 7th.

Would you give up a 2nd. for a 33 year old player who is on LTIR?

Would you do the Foligno trade again?

Leafs having a much better team than when they traded for foligno

They don't need a 3rd liner and trying to make it a top 6 player, they need a 3rd liner player to use in a 3rd line.

And like i said, all depend of the price. For a 1st pick and 2 4th ( like foligno trade) no thanks, they are other option available

for a late 2nd or a robertson+ or whatever it can be interesting

PS ROR was also injured before TDL to foot and get injured again latet with leafs to a broke finger and still been pretty good for leafs and it was even a worst case...

It's pretty simple, get a healthy player, not one coming off surgery with question marks.

Every player coming with questions mark, we don't know if they gonna be able to adapt in a new system quickly and well enough to make an real impact, no guarantee they will stay healthy and deliver all expectations coming with the trade.

The perfect trade without any risk doesn't exist

Sure... but there is a difference between fitting in, and coming off surgery... a big difference... you'd think you would understand that.

Always depend of what kind of injury it is... Gourde, its a sport hernia, its not a big deal and a pretty basic injury for an athlete...

If it would be back injury by exemple or those kind of injury, it would not be the same because those injuries are pretty concerning. But for a sport hernia... you recover pretty well from this kind of injury with risk of recidivism pretty low, so for me its not really a big deal.

Can they even make a trade for an LTIR player? I think his trade has to come at the 11th hour if he is even off LTIR in time. Nobody will pay a 2nd for an untested IR return. Any deal for Gourde would have to be last minute and pennies on the dollar.3rd or even 4th round pick.

Instead of Laughton, I wonder what it would take to get Cates…really strong defensively, playing C this year, fairly young … 1st + Minten?

I’ve been thinking a lot about trading Stolarz to Edmonton for something big. There is an old saying, if you have 2 goalies, you don’t have any goalies. Sell super high on Stolarz to a desparate Edmonton team.

Such as:
Bouchard
Or
RNH

I obviously know we have to add. The add would differ by deal.

For instance Domi also going in the RNH deal, or a Fraser Minter. Plus a pick. Timmons could also go in the Bouchard +++ again.

Or even a retained Stolarz alone would get a haul - then to be used for C or RD.

Trade #1
David Kampf (2.4M per for 3 years) + Topi Niemela + Artur Akhtyamov + 2016 1st round pick (Top-5 Protection - Defers to 2027)

for

Scott Laughton - (3M per for 2 years) + Rasmus Ristolainen (50% Retained - 2.55M per for 3 years)

Trade #2
Nicholas Robertson (875K per for 1 year - RFA) + 2027 4th round pick

for

Peyton Krebs (1.45M per for 2 years - RFA)

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Domi/Laughton - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Domi/Laughton - Pacioretty
Lorentz - Krebs - Dewar
ex. Steeves - Reaves

Rielly - Ristolainen
McCabe - Tanev
Benoit - OEL
ex. Myers

Woll
Stolarz
ex. Murray

Timmins and Holmberg waived to the Marlies.

Two deals to rebuild the 3rd line:

Robertson + Fla 2nd for Laughton

Dewar + Holmberg + 27’ 3rd for Tanev 50%

In: 19G, 41P, 218 hits

Out: 10G, 23P, 138 hits

Aka twice the goals, twice the points, twice the hits

Knies - Matthews - Marner

McMann - Tavares - Nylander

Tanev* - Laughton* - Domi

Lorentz - Kampf - Jarnkrok

Pacioretty

McCabe - Tanev

Benoit - OEL

Rielly - Myers

Timmins

A guy that never comes up here is Provorov. Probably because the price will be high for a rental. Still, Provorov at 50% (cap hit of 2.3-ish) would likely help generate some offense from the back end.

I wonder that if Rielly goes in the summer Provorov would be considered for replacement. He will probably make less than Rielly and he actually reminds me of Rielly when Rielly is playing okay. He's 28 too, so a lot of hockey still ahead of him.

Selling high would be very smart. I'd have a convo with Stolarz to what an extension would look like but seem likely trading him for a nice return would really help.

Bouchard would be an interesting target. RHD and a big time weapon offensively... his extension will be massive I think.
