That's a lot of future capital regardless and the quality was far different. ROR + Acciari and McCabe + Lafferty in the years prior to Treliving. You pay for what you get. You might as well acquire good talent instead of half assing it. There's only really been Foligno as the one major dud throughout the last 10 or whatever how many years you wanna look back.

Treliving will do the same thing in his tenure either way, I will guarantee you that much.
That's a lot less for the same results.

ROR mentioned he hates the spotlight of Toronto. It's the first thing he said when he landed in Nashville. Maybe he also hated Keefe and the coaches but the team and environment didn't change. If he changed his mind on the situation, I guess? Doesn't seem likely to me. And giving up even more assets for a player that decided he wanted to jump ship to a place that has little pressure doesn't bold well for me.
i have zero interest in re-aquiring this player. he was chosen last time for a specific purpose which he did not provide, then proceeded to badmouth the team on the way out. next.

Player fits, has term on his contract, caphit is 4.5m which isn't outrageous. Seems like everything Toronto is looking for. Just speculation, but feels like ROR didn't like the fit with Keefe at the helm, might have different opinion on Toronto now with Chief behind the bench.

There's been a lot of smoke/talk about a reunion with ROR.

I think keefe played a major role in him deciding not to come back. Would not be surprised if ROR and Schenn are reacquired. Both were great fits

It's shocking how ROR is at the top of the list. It makes no sense to me. The player himself fits, nothing else about the situation does.

Just watch whats leafs need and whats player available bring and ROR is 110% the best fit. He bring everything leafs need, the players and berube know him pretty well...

and be sure if ror is trade to leafs, Trotz would ask him if hes okay with it.

There's believed to be interest in Toews from a number of teams, Leafs included. He may WANT a lot of money, but realistically, he's not going to get more than a league minimum contract for the rest of the season. Basically a PTO. Anyone who pays him more than that is nutsy cuckoo and good luck.

If Tre is hesitant to move on from Reaves, he's absolutely not going to think about a Domi trade until he absolutely has to

To be fair to Domi, I thought he played better in the postseason, deserves at least another shot there before any serious reassessment can happen

He clearly wanted to finish his career in a warm weather USA market. He won't be happy returning to Canada, and quite frankly he had his chance, let him spend his time missing the playoffs in Tennessee

I think he will want to go to a strong team that can bring him along slowly. He would get crushed trying to get back into the league too fast. I look at him as a summer project and if he works out great, and if not you can still refocus, but summer is gone. Adding him now, I think he could prevent a team from doing something else if he didn't work out (like the other options will all be gone to other clubs.)

For a club that could really use a #3C I think he is a risk. Spend something and get a guy you know can play, don't fart around. Or bring him in like, tomorrow and start seeing how much game he has. They don't have time for an extended courtship so if he needs that then no thanks.

His wife is a big city girl so I think Winny is not necessarily high on her list but that might apply to all of Canada.. 59% and 53% FO his last two years so he will bring that for sure. The big plus would be at that cost they could still add a winger and a D.

They aren't gonna stop trying to make their team better. It hasn't worked but at some point, it probably will? If it doesn't, then you re-assess and try again.

Treliving will very likely trade top 60 picks and prospects if he can acquire a player that can help a lot regardless of what happened in the past.

Just funny to see people having s philosophy because leafs didn't had succes in playoff, so they need try to be better and just forfeit...

I think basically, due to the organization right from the top never really showing any signs of wanting to spread the big 4 around, this is what we will go with when the playoffs start, regardless of it the players mesh together.

Knies Matthews Marner
Xx Tavares Nylander
Xx xx xx
Lorentz Kampf xx

If we mix in McMann, Domi and Jarnkrok, we need a LW or a Centre. I'd imagine we'll probably get more bang for the buck with a LW. That guy can play either on the 2nd line, or with Domi and Jarnkrok.

Then we might go and get a RHD.

McCabe Tanev
Rielly xx
OEL xx

Personally, given the limited resources we have, I'd look at Donato and then a RHD, with Donato being able to play wing and centre.
I would be very interested put together a package for Chicago that sees Donato and Murphy sent our way.

Shore up both 2RHD and 3C in one move.

Add Taylor Hall if it makes sense and is cheap, and I’ve never been a big Taylor Hall guy, but if Patches and Jarnkrok continue to be injured, LW may become an issue.

…… and for the suggestions of Schenn, ROR, and/or Boosh……

Winnipeg is after Toews. He was born there, grew up there, and they have a need for a 3C. I would be shocked if he went anywhere else.

I feel like they need a 2C more than 3C, I love Lowry but for a cup contender, you wanna get him to your 3C.

I think Brock Nelson would be great there....but if they could find a way to squeeze JT Miller into their group? Mama.

And I don't think they should stop trying to make the team better.

My point was that trading first round picks at the TDL for rentals may not be the best idea. We have lots of evidence from Dubas' time that it actually had a detrimental effect. I'm reasonably confident that Tre wouldn't be as bad, but just blindly following the same unsuccessful strategy isn't necessarily the best or only option.

So are you thinking JT isn't coming back or that you might play him behind Nelson? I could see a Cozens add as a C for the future but Nelson is more a soft swap for Tavares.
