I am starting not to trust Matthews injuries meaning: He seems to be injured quite often.

What I am going to suggest may be one of the most off the wall, crazy, but a balsy move for the now. ( which would definately shorten "our window") yet stregthen our center depth and imo be a better well rounded team.

Also would have to consider that other moves could be made down the road to tweek us even further.

My propsal is:

Matthews
Minten
Robertson

traded to Pittsburgh for:

Crosby and Malkin.

Points would not be lost because Crosby and Malkin should be able to cover the loss of Matthews totals.

Crosby could lead the team like a true Captain centering the first line.

Knies - Crosby - Marner
Domi - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Malkin - Lorenz
Dewar - Kampf - Reeves

I wouldn't do that unless we also got McDavid for the 4th line.

It's both maybe and no at the same time because Calgary won't trade with us apparently.
I think we can forget about trades with Pittsburgh or Calgary. Don't think either party will do fair trades with us.

Just such a weird hill to die on. How long do they need to stop lamenting about it. Dubas got a promotion out of it. Sometimes it works out for the best in their careers and it's business in the end. I can understand in the first few months or so of Treliving leaving his team you don't want to help him out, whatever, but it's been 2 years now. I think it's probably in the past now.

I feel like if there's a good hockey deal in place, you can probably put personal differences aside to make something happen, especially after 2 years. I think they can make it happen.

If the embargo ever gets lifted, I have interest in Weegar still.

What are you offering the Flames who are not rebuilding, but want to win.

Might start with Minten, a western boy.

Geez, have to add Cowan.

I don't know how Leafs do it.

Need $6mm in space. Flames are not going to retain for another 6 years.

Minten, Cowan, McCabe (capspace)
for
Weeger, prospect, pick ...

Again, really comes down to Capspace and Leafs lack of top end prospects.

I like Weegar, but I believe he mostly plays LD, and is most comfortable there.

He plays LD because he's probably their only right shot capable of going to his off-side since he got used to it with Ekblad but whenever I watch them, all of his problems start because he's taking things on his back hand and he's got maybe average mobility but everything else with him is great.

I’ve been on board the Weegar wagon for years but no doubt that ship has sailed, and really not interested in the price it would take to get him.

I like our defence and what we have. Priority has to be improving our Centre strength, as well as our depth on the wing.

Would the flames be interested in trading Blake Coleman
He is kind of a glue player for the Flames I think. For the right price I think he would be available but a $4.9 AAV for two more years kind of kills it for TO. The mediocre deals they would have to send back for the money to fit (Kampf +) would make the asset cost prohibitive. I sort of see them with one real bullet in the chamber and it will be for a C on an expiring deal. Coleman is the kind of add a club can make when they are just able to resist that one extra $11M guy :)

If olivier is available, more than half the league will be interested. I dont know if the Jackets want to trade a player like that because he's a leader and one of their only tough guys they have
