I might consider Minten and Danforth. Both project as easily replaceable guys on a roster. My gut says Schenn would be a great short term add but they don’t have the cap space to risk being wrong with 3 years left on his deal. Better be right.

I don't particularly like the fact that he runs his team like a dictator, but it's a hell of a thing to say that someone who's been in hockey for nearly 5 decades and has 3 cups isn't smart.

I think it will be Schenn, but it will end up costing minten, a first and another pick, with a third team getting a pick to retain 25% of the contract.

Still leaves holes in the defense and Center positions.

The cap they take on is only the remainder of what he's due this season.

This is why Rantanen is being brought up because it'll only take 500k of cap space if Carolina retains on him.

This ^ leafs don’t have the assets to get more than 1 legit piece. Tre is going to have to pony up big time for his target and just accept that the fact prices are insane. I’d go all in for Rantanen. If for no other reason than to say “f*** it” if we’re going to suck on D we might as well try and outscore them. Either that or you stand pat. Moving big chips for guys like Nelson and Laughton is insane. At least with Rantanen you know you’re getting a star player who can put up major numbers
