He’s vanilla as in there isn’t a single part of his skillset you could say is elite. He’s not that fast anymore, he has a shockingly inaccurate muffin shot, he doesn’t walk the line and open up lanes. Most of his points are run of the mill transition plays or uncontested point to point passes. He has had another gear in the playoffs where he’ll throw a few hits and make some good pinches but he isn’t giving us any tools offensively we don’t already have better versions of. He’s not an offensive quarterback that controls play, he’s just another guy out there.
It sounds like you want someone to win a skills competition.

And so, what if his points are in transition? That's how most goals are scored, within 7-10 seconds of crossing the offensive blue line.

As for not being a PPqb, he sure has picked up a lot points on PP over the last 8 years or so...

You’re right my bad wanting an OFD that can shoot or create lanes is childish, having a guy who’s skillset boils down to “pass it to Marner” is worth 7.5 for the bulk of the decade.

The other veteran staple, Scott Mayfield, has served as a healthy scratch for three of the last four games. In his return to the lineup on Monday, in which the Islanders went with 11 forwards and seven defensemen, Mayfield was the No. 7, playing a team-low 9:04.

Mayfield, who carries a cap hit of $3.5 million for five more seasons after this one, has a full no-trade clause, but I wonder if he's willing to waive it to go to a contender if he's not going to play.

If Mayfield is in play, I'd keep an eye on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning.

5 more seasons and he's healthy scratching now? Sign me up.

Zero interest in ROR, or Schenn for that matter.

So sick of chasing these mediocre, old farts.
ROR was a very good pick up last time. He absolutely killed it here. He’s a couple years older now though. I think he has one more run left in him and next year is a question mark as guys can fall off at 35 and we have started to acquire some other older players already. Definitely wouldn’t complain if we got someone closer to 28-32.

The no-shooting thing with Rielly is such BS. No one even uses slapshots from the point anymore, anyway. And he should be passing to Matthews or Nylander because they are better shooting options.

and yet we're talking about one of the few defencemen to have a 20-goal season to his name.

Flames fans weren’t wrong when they said Treliving takes his sweet ass time making deals. Also if we give up a first round pick for Luke Kunin I’m not watching another second of this season.

Im fine with Kunin but if only Kampf somehow gets traded. Kunin as a 4th line center is elite. Kunin as a 3rd line center, and we in trouble.

Berube loves Kampf though

So it wasn't Sheldon Keefe he had issues with.

So a reporter we never heard of spoke to a podcaster we never heard of who spoke to someone who "knows O'Rielly really well" and O'Reilly told him about a conversation he had with Leafs management. Is that 4th hand of 5th hand? It might be true but if he isn't a Leaf by the weekend I am not sure its because of anything to do with this revelation.
