to use baseball, look at Vladdy, Jays had the chance to sign him and ddnt, now are up against 29 other teams, whats better, the sure thing signing, or the risk of trying to outbid everyone else, who have more $$ and room to overpay.
this would be a sign and trade scenario, and Knies needs a new deal too, likely cant afford him and Marner and JT and Rant and a new RHD etc etc.

if we deal for Rant (signed) then, Marner and JT are not must sign players, else, we sign our own, rinse and repeat.

I can't see a world we trade for Rantanen, even with an extension, none of Rantanen, Marner or Nylander can or will do what Knies does, he's a pretty unique element that is so hard to find.

If we are trading for rantanen right now then its not for someone like knies.
Knies is extremely important to the makeup of this team as the only power forward.

I am 100% done with this team if they do this.

Knies is about as untradeable as you can get right now. Make no mistake about it, I want Treliving and the Leafs to make a move to counter what Tampa and Florida have done so far. But this is not the right move at all.

I would rather them stand pat then make this trade.

There is no scenario where it’s a good idea to trade knies. He’s a power forward that teams would kill to have in the playoffs. Do not trade knies. If your going for rant you need to compliment him with knies.
