For me it’s Rantanen or nothing. Laughton ain’t fixing this team. Treliving has to have a massive summer coming up. If you can’t get a big name and go all in honestly just stand pat. Our D is atrocious without Tanev.

Jarnkrok, Domi, Kampf, gone in the summer, trim the fat. Start getting actual talent on this team. Bring in young, cheap bottom 6 guys like Minten. Why the f*** are we spending so much money in the bottom 6???? “We can’t score in the playoffs! Yeah because we gave 10 million to Domi, Jarnkrok and Kampf

No roster spots open, no money to use.. big summer coming up for Brad
The whole front office was in vegas last night
I hope they have a plan
I think this team is as good as its goalies

I could see them moving off Bennett for Rantanen and I could see Carolina doing that with Samoskevich added.
Bennett would have the same mindset as Rantanen. Didn’t choose to be traded, didn’t choose Carolina so it’s again another pure rental move. Why would Bennett sign when he’s like 3 months from free agency. If Bennett hasn’t signed back up with Florida than there is pretty much no hope for Carolina to sign him. Guys going into their free agent year pretty much only sign an extension if it’s a place they had in mind in free agency. For example, let’s say Bennett got traded to Toronto, there’s a good chance he would extend

We badly need another quality defenceman.
Great top pairing, but the second pairing is a guy in Rielly who's at best average defensively alongside another player in OEL who leans more offensive but you have him playing his weakside. Then you have two guys on your bottom pairing that really should be #6's/#7's on championship quality teams. You could get by with just one of Timmins/Benoit/Myers in your top 6 but having two of them in the lineup at the same time is just too much.

I haven't criticized Tre that much but if he doesn't improve the blueline this deadline I will be very disappointed.

He did a good job last summer adding to the D. I would give him this off-season to add the pieces he wants. He was left with a soft and small team and is slowing building a mean and tough backend. Look at the size of the Vegas D. Most of them are 6’3+

I'm not saying fire him or anything but he should be able to find a decent stabilizing defender that he can pair with Rielly and then move OEL down to the third pairing on his strong side.

Also the problem with the ability to make a trade, Treliving refuses to be creative. If you don’t have picks and more than 3 kids worth anything your next best bet for value is off the roster but we all know Treliving won’t touch the big boys.

The scary part also is there is an actual bidding war for Laughton lol holy crap

This constant talk of stabilizing Reilly, or finding someone to cover Reilly etc etc is absolutely insane, the guy is a 7 million dollar dman who is about 3.5-4 million over paid for what he is, he's an offensive bottom pairing defenceman who should be playing 14-16 minutes a night. He's been atrocious for 2 seasons now.

This^ let’s stop pretending the problem is his partner or lack there of. OEL is a cup winner FFS and Morgan still struggles! This guy has been on a steep decline for at least 2 years now. Let’s just call it as it is.

The problem now becomes is it smart paying a guy 7+ million to play 15 sheltered minutes on the bottom pair? Another big decision for Brad in the summer. At some point here if they don’t go deep in the playoffs they gotta do a facelift to the core group.

You gotta release roster spots and money off the books for actual change instead of just fixating on the bottom 6 every year

Yep Rielly hasn't been good enough but this Rielly - OEL pairing aint it. Some players can play their offside and overcome the increased challenges but many cant. OEL was a third pairing D on last years cup champs and that's most likely what he should be here and playing on his strong side.

Obviously I don’t know Rielly as a person but from the outside looking in the only place that made sense for him personally was Vancouver. They now have their 1/2LD locked up. Seattle is close to Vancouver geographically and they also have their 1/2LD and Friedman said yesterday they plan on keeping Oleksiak.

Is there any team that would make sense for him to waive to considering he has a young family and his wife is from Ontario?

Of those teams - how many would take him?

I'm guessing yes but do we need a better dman going forward IMO. Tre should be targeting Dobson or Clarke. Wishful thinking.

Mo has to go. That's the package to make and EK isn't going to be worse then that trash heap.
