I'd like to bring in Donato @50% (3rd party retention), Tanev @25% (3rd party retention), & Luke Schenn. I think they'd have a fair chance to resign Tanev but not Donato.

Would even give you the option to mix the lines up with say:

Knies - Matthews - Domi
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Marner
McMann - Donato - Nylander
Lorentz - Kampf - Tanev

Or you just throw Domi & Jarnkrok on the 3rd with Donato.

Yes and no. We are at $100K but we're also at full roster and two players on IR. There is fat we can trim.

This is why Treliving said not to expect much. They can't add 6M+ players without heavy retention.

They can open up chunks of cap space by trimming depth players like Dewar, Kampf, Timmins and Reaves. That's over 5M right there. Will they do it? Probably not.

This is why Laughton makes some sense because his salary is only 3M. If you think he can be a solid upgrade on the 3rd line, then of course you're trying hard to get him.

That's pretty subjective. They don't have unlimited cap space. They won't trade Rielly or Domi before the deadline. They are very limited in what they can do not only because of cap space but assets they can use to achieve it.

If you believe they will change a quarter of the roster to fit a player or two, then all the power to you.

They likely need a 3rd party to retain, which is in my opinion, why we haven’t seen much deals yet. But they will need to pay for the player and then pay for retention. It’s doable but harder to work out if it isn’t the other side you’re dealing with that is retaining.

Every team in the NHL can run young players under 22 but we cantman your logic is stale and sucks, we need to be progressive...what does it hurt having a young player play in the NHL to develop, ill tell you, it doesn't hurt there development at all.....in fact id argue it helps them, they have the best players/coaches around to help and its a huge confidence boost knowing you're team has faith in you....enough with all these false acquisitions.

Ummmm Rantanen, Tanev Perry are all free agents next year so we dont need to trade anything slim, Murphy, Gudas & Tanev would be our tdl pickups this year.
