Nothing we didn’t knowDreger on the Leafs:
- Keeping tabs on Schenn, but it's unlikely unless Armstrong decides to sell
- Top options now include Brock Nelson and Scott Laughton
- Also looking for a defensemen, though the market is thin
- Leafs are right at the cap, so it's dollar in dollar out. You will see a different looking team on Friday
So…I thought we needed money going the other way to facilitate any new bodies coming in? Correct? Last time I checked we had like $100,000 in cap space.
Then there’s talk of neither Robertson nor Domi being available?
Something has to give. Salary has to be going the other way. It has too. Otherwise we ain’t doing poop.
Next thing you’ll hear is Treliving is that Jarnkrok and Tanev are our additions (currently just returning and being placed in IR)and that he prefers to build his team in the offseason. I can see it now.
I hope I’m wrong. I hope we look to either Utah, Chicago or Seattle in a blockbuster trade.![]()

The cap has never been an impediment for the Leafs. As always, they will find a way around it in order to get the result they want. This is why Treliving said not to expect much. They can't add 6M+ players without heavy retention.
They can open up chunks of cap space by trimming depth players like Dewar, Kampf, Timmins and Reaves. That's over 5M right there. Will they do it? Probably not.
This is why Laughton makes some sense because his salary is only 3M. If you think he can be a solid upgrade on the 3rd line, then of course you're trying hard to get him.

That's pretty subjective. They don't have unlimited cap space. They won't trade Rielly or Domi before the deadline. They are very limited in what they can do not only because of cap space but assets they can use to achieve it.
If you believe they will change a quarter of the roster to fit a player or two, then all the power to you.
All your laughing emojis doesn’t make you smarter than other people.I dont drink or do drugs, thanks!
Its obvious you cant read properly or comprehend anything as you only see things you're way
You should be an NHL scout haha, you clearly know everything....Niemela is an NHL defenseman and most definitely is not degrading, man you're delusional bro.
What makes you think he wont be NHL ready do you follow Cowan? How doesn't he compare to a player like Tavares or Kadri?
Every team in the NHL can run young players under 22 but we cantman your logic is stale and sucks, we need to be progressive...what does it hurt having a young player play in the NHL to develop, ill tell you, it doesn't hurt there development at all.....in fact id argue it helps them, they have the best players/coaches around to help and its a huge confidence boost knowing you're team has faith in you....enough with all these false acquisitions.
What worked yesterday, wont work today...everything is constantly changing. Unless you find something that works, but even then you need to adapt for success(just like Florida's doing this tdl)
Ummmm Rantanen, Tanev Perry are all free agents next year so we dont need to trade anything slim, Murphy, Gudas & Tanev would be our tdl pickups this year.
Man you clearly just read what you wanti mentioned i'd be willing to move Rielly + picks + prospects to get a guy like Sergachev
They likely need a 3rd party to retain, which is in my opinion, why we haven’t seen much deals yet. But they will need to pay for the player and then pay for retention. It’s doable but harder to work out if it isn’t the other side you’re dealing with that is retaining.
Yea our window has never been wide open because of going all in too early and also because Covid stopped the cap from rising. Doesnt look like we will ever have a really dominant team window like most other eventual cup Champs have had.Its the closest we will be for a while unfortunately.....we already mortgaged the farm when we cut the rebuild short years ago.....its do or die this season
And i strongly believe if management doesnt assess our issues it forces Marner & Tavares to sign with another team.
Worst part about this is no one wants to deal draft picks but not one draft pick for the next 10+ years will turn out to be like Marner...thats reality
I think they end up doing the best they can and not necessarily what they would prefer to do.The cap has never been an impediment for the Leafs. As always, they will find a way around it in order to get the result they want.
Of course, like every other contending team.I think they end up doing the best they can and not necessarily what they would prefer to do.
This years 3rd will highly likely be used for another team to retain. While a prospect goes out the door to get the guy they want (Minten?).
Tre's been fairly active trying to soften the blow in the media about the tdl. Expect a bottom six centre and a depth D man
They haven’t been a contending team in the cap era.Of course, like every other contending team.
Knies is better than cozensLet be honest, the only young player available and who really deserve it is probably Cozens and will start with Knies for a trade. and will be pretty hard to make him fit under slaary cap
Domi needs to go benoit shouldn’t be playing come playoff time I keep RobertsonJokiharju? He didn't look bad at 4 Nations for Finland, he's just on a bad team, even getting Krebs in that deal wouldn't be bad.
From what it sounds like, no one wants Jokiharju according to the Athletic, I don't know if Krebs has ever been brought up but Sabres fans want a ham sandwich for him.
Other than that, Reilly Smith?
Knies-Matthews-88

Maybe we turn our attention to Utah players?

Crouse
Kesselring
