So glad to see a majority are against the idea. Yes, he had his struggles, but how old is he and how many years has he been in the league? Newsflash, this was Slava's first full season in the NHL, and he didn't miss any games, played all 82 regular season and all 26 playoff games, not to mention him playing at the Olympics as well. This isn't a fantasy hockey league.

I am not championing trading Slava.

But it seems like everytime someone wants someone traded it is universally shot down by the masses. Again I don't think Slava is the ideal guy to be moved at this point, but he is certainly in the discussion. But really it's a discussion that will probably be taking place in June 2015 and not June 2014. Like BigBrown said, lets give Slava a chance to bounce back, he is only 24 and played well last year.

One reason it gets shot down, is because we know Deano believes in the room. I'm sure the philosophy of there being 17 holdovers from 2012 has made them a believer that low turnover is a big key. They're going to have to replace Greene this year, Regehr next year, and Mitchell one of these years, so that makes the chances better that Voynov won't go anywhere.

Another thing is, Voynov stuck on the team because he was ready to, which allowed Jack Johnson to be traded. Do the Kings have that same guy ready to go if Voynov was traded? Maybe they'd get one back in a trade, but you know Voynov is the safer bet. That's a lot of risk.

I just can't believe some of you guys here on this Board. We just won the Cup and you are asking for a trade of one of our most promising defence men. Ok Slava did not have his best year but he is a valuable element on this team, plays his positioning more than anything else and can chip in on the O.

... and he made a game winning save on the Steve Nash open net. If that had't be, there would be hockey tonight and you never know what would unfold from there on.

geeeez....

yeah, but if the Panthers took Voynov, Dwight King and the LA #1 Pick for the #1 overall...the Kings could draft defenseman Aaron Eckblad.

Wrong Canadian Nash.

Steve is the broken down Laker.

Rick is the Ranger.

Assuming Ekblad will be better than Voynov, what does Florida get out of this deal?

As to the original question, you don't trade a young right handed defenseman who has shown he can play. He didn't have a great 13-14 season. He still hasn't even played 200 NHL games yet, unless you count playoff games.

If you get a deal that you couldn't turn down, that's one thing. That deal probably isn't going to materialize though, so, no reason not to hang onto Voynov.

Well if AMart is traded it will be this summer, and I think it would be odd if the Kings playoff hero wouldn't even be in the building for the banner raising. I know Bolland was traded last year, but that was because they were up against the cap, the Kings are not up against the cap this season.

If AMart leaves it will be as an UFA after this coming season because DL feels he isn't worth the money he is going to demand. Contending teams like the Kings don't trade quality defenders at the deadline because they are going to leave as an UFA, better to just keep him through the playoffs.

just 3 days after scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal, we are back to trading AMart, well, thankfully a trade hasn't happened, cause we may not of made the Finals if it weren't for AMart's series winning goal just weeks ago,

hence, luckily for kings fans, you people are not dean lombardi,

I could see him being traded in the future, but not yet. He is still developing as well and I am sure the Kings are going to wait on him unless some ridiculous offer comes their way. We just don't have anyone to replace him with and a draft pick certainly wouldn't suffice, we aren't rebuilding and need ready and active players now, trading Voynov would only create more holes in trading for his replacement after we draft slightly higher.

Also, let's not forget that it is typically always a bad idea to trade someone when their perceived value is lower. Voynov was probably L.A.'s best defender in last year's playoffs - maybe even the best player on the team outside of Quick/Carter/Richards. I think he will bounce back from an average year. He played an awful lot of minutes and I believe it wore him down. Guy is a gamer.

Don't trade slava, just get him a more durable stick that won't break on every slap shot he takes. I swear that guy broke about 30 sticks this year.

Ummm if you think we should jettison Slava (and more.....) for picks you are starring to hard at the stats sheet.

Not a great year, I don't know what happened to his ability to score (remember when he used to do that?) and a few too many turn overs... But Slava is still a beast of a defenseman in his own end. I think because he is quite and humble most don't pick up on it but he makes life near the LA net pretty ****ing hard for the opposition.

I say hold on to him. He was so good for us in 2013 and his mistakes this year were probably due to fatigue from playing so much damn hockey...

dream on/

Kings trade slava and conditional pick to NY Isles for their #1 next year (dean doing jedi mind trick on snow)
Kings sign Stralman to replace
Kings get lucky and get the first pick (McDavid?)

dream off/

:D
