I don’t think we’ll make the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a busy trading deadline.
Here are some players I think will be traded and their trade value.

David Savard
2nd and 3rd round picks. Depending on the team, he’s valuable for a playoff team. He’s going to get the same value as Chris Tanev last year.

Christian Dvorak
I don’t think he’s worth much on the market base on his cap hit. Maybe if we retain 50%, we might get a second round pick out of a team looking for a 3rd/4th line center. We gave up a 1st and 2nd for Dvorak in the Kotkaniemi offer sheet.

Jake Evans
I think we’ll try to resign him. I don’t see a 3rd/4th liner worth anything more than a 2nd round pick and prospect. Evans has more value than Dvorak because his cap hit is 1/3 of Dvorak. Also he’s better than Dvorak. I don’t know if we want any more prospects but bringing him back to teach Owen Beck is more valuable than trading him.

Josh Anderson
I don’t think any team will touch his cap hit.

Brendan Gallagher
His cap hit is too high but he’s off to a great start. If LA somehow is interested because of Bergevin’s influence on Blake, then we might see a prospect and a pick in return.

Veteran right shot D like Savard usually go for overvalue at deadline.

Gallagher I am not moving. He is a warrior and on pace for 35 goals.

Anderson playing good just overpaid. I would retain half for a first. At 2.75m he has value.

Dvorak maybe a 3rd. Many teams want depth at center and he is good at faceoffs.

Matheson for a first and throw in. Take value now. He's not long term answer here.

Primeau a 7th. Phill maybe? What we gave up for him. Like to give Hughes a look. He's out playing Dobes.

Only veteran that has value is Matheson. He could yield a first+.

Gallagher, despite his good start, is untradable because of his contract.

- I'd be happy with a 2nd + for Savard. But some in the media that look into rumors for a living are speculating he'll get a 1st. Hopefully that shot blocking shift that went viral entices GM's.

- I think it's better to keep Evan's than trade him for a second. But I'd take a late 1st.

- Dvo has to pick up his numbers to get a decent return (2nd or better). I'd play him with Dach and two of Caufield, Laine, and Slaf on a second line, even if on the wing.

- Anderson has trade value at 50% retained. Maybe Gally now too. Though I think Gally needs a bigger sample size. If the opportunity arose to move them at 50% retained arose, I'd do it. I'd like to make room for Beck, Kapanen, Newhook, Roy, Heineman, and Hage in the bottom six plus others we acquire (Olivier?, Frederick?). Demidov will come next year and complete the top 6.

- will be nice to trade Savard and give Barron full time duties. Might as well see if he can learn on the job and get to another level.

I'm ready to move Primeau or put him on waivers. But we could also call up Hughes and have Primeau back in the 3rd goalie chair.

If Primeau doesn't do well in his next 1 or 2 starts, I think Hughes will be called up.

Prices vary a ton based off of whether it's a sellers market or not so it's tough to predict.

Savard could potentially get a 1st, but a 2nd+ is probably more likely. That said there's also a chance we re-sign him even though many here would hate it.

Evans is probably looking at a 2nd, but again we might re-sign him.

Dvorak & Armia are late picks at best, and Gallagher & Anderson are still probably untradeable with their contracts even though both have had a good year so far.
