Except Gionta, Kovy and Zubrus are all injured. We won't be 100% set until four weeks from now at the very most.
Yeah but then you still have an under contract (one way contract) that will have to go when everyone's healthy.

I honestly think this team is set right now.
Henrique-Loktionov-Kovalchuk
Elias-Zajac-Clarkson
Ponikarovsky-Zubrus-D'Agostini
Carter-Gionta-Bernier
Fully healthy like this, the forwards aren't half bad. We should just trade one of our defensemen for a pick or obviously get a top 6 winger if the opportunity arises(which it probably wont). Fully healthy we are capable of winning a playoff series if we play like we're capable.

Unfortunately, that is a month away from happening.
They are our "trade deadline acquisitions" to quote Lou on Zajac last year.
When do the playoffs start? Will they be ready?
Jussi is a top six forward. We'd be getting him for free if successful at getting the guy via waivers (if Lou even submits a claim) If that works then just trade Tallinder or another roster defenseman for picks (considering we traded a bunch away.)
Doesn't seem too hard. Realistically. I would send down Gionta and have Carter as the fourth line center but that isn't gonna happen...Lou and PDB will not break up that CBGB chemistry.
When healthy (and if we do get Jokinen) I'd like to see these lines given a try:
Jokinen-Lokti-Kovy
Elias-Zajac-Clarkson
Zubrus-Henrique-D'Agostini
Poni-Carter-Bernier
Baby Gio and YaYo would become your extras at center and LW respectively. That depth we would have suddenly becomes unreal.
We're at 50 contracts now. We can't make a waiver pickup without losing someone to waivers ourselves first.
I'm no expert on contracts but I know Boucher doesn't count till next year, that's when his ELC starts.
serious question, is that what urbom is? honestly, i dont remember anything about him except his goal or awesome play or something in our last game of that dreaded year. i always thought he had SOME offensive ability- a little more than salvador, but less than zid
Boucher's not on the 50-man list. We are actually at 48, my mistake, as Scarlett and Severson don't count against our list.
I believe it's actually 47 as we sent Matteau back to juniors as well.
I didn't watch a lot of AHL games this year, so he's maybe overused in a shutdown role, but 7 pts in 58 AHL games are still not enough. Hoping for an Henrique 2.0 though, skills are there.
Hasn't his contract already "slid", so regardless where he plays he still counts?
If Boucher goes to Albany, or Merrill signs, those contracts will be for next year and they'd go to Albany on ATO's.
Roster Limits
Organizations have four different personnel limitations to manage under the current NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement: a 20-player “dressed list” for games, a 23-player active NHL roster, a 50-contract maximum, and a 90-player maximum reserve list.
Franchises are only allowed to have up to 90 players on the reserve list, meaning players that have signed a standard player contract (SPC) or unsigned draft choices. Teams are only permitted to have up to 50 players signed to contracts for any given season, including those for the players on the active roster, on loan and injured reserve lists.
Players assigned to their junior teams cannot be recalled until the completion of their team’s season unless it’s an emergency (which we won’t see in this era of the NHL).
According to Article 16 Section 4, the 23-man roster limit is in place from the conclusion of the preseason until 12:01 am on the day of the NHL’s Trade Deadline. After that teams are allowed to have an unlimited active roster at the NHL level, provided players are signed to one of their 50 contract slots (note: players assigned back to their junior clubs do not count towards the 50).
According to Article 13 Section 12 Subsection l:
During the period following 3:00 p.m. New York time of the fortieth (40th) day immediately preceding the final day of the Regular Season no Player may be Recalled from Loan to a club of any league affiliated with the NHL, except that:
(i) A Club may exercise four (4) recalls from a club or clubs of any league affiliated with the NHL, of Player(s) listed on its own Reserve List.
(ii) Players may be Recalled under Article 13.12(m).
(iii) Players may be Recalled upon completion of the regular season and playoff schedule of the club to which they were Loaned.
The thing is we'll have a decent roster a month from now. The other thing is we might not get a chance to watch them play because of the current state this team is in. The playoffs are in major danger. I just thnk the loss of Kovalchuk will be too great to overcome unfortunately.
Our forward group right now is pathetic.
Wrong.
Boucher was fired cause he was handed a borderline NHL caliber blueline and a goalie tandem that is just brutal. Mix both of those things together and you have a team that has high hopes with studs like Stamkos, Hedman, Vinny, MSL, etc... who are going nowhere.
The locker room was shocked when they announced on sunday morning that Boucher was canned. Martin St-Louis gave a interview on RDS, saying that the news cought everyone by surprise and that he didn't deserve the faith he got.
If he would be wiling to land a job as a assistant, he would be perfect for us. He's a wizard when it comes to operating a PP and lord knows how we can use someone to help our mediocre PP. I would garantee you this... Kovy would be playing on the left half board, ala Stamkos, instead of the point.
