Huh, I was unaware the Sharks had a bunch of undrafted two time cup champion just laying around prior to Barclay’s arrival.

I’m not tryna make Goodrow into something he’s not. He is not an offensive difference maker and is no longer a two way force; but as fashionable as it is to shit on Barclay, I’m glad he is a voice in that locker room instead of guys like Labanc or Hoffman.
Goodrow’s Cup experience is about as relevant as Gretzky’s Cup experience now. It doesn’t make them NHL quality players. That’s more important than their past. They would’ve been just as fine without his voice.

If Goodrow was a 4th liner and PKed, that'd be fine. Will Smith looked at his best in the games when he played with Granlund and Kostin (ie not Kunin/Goodrow who have zero skill). Would be nice if we could go back to the formula that worked...Kovalenko/Zetterlund-Granlund-Smith would be great

FWIW, the Goodrow line with Smith scored the Sharks' first goal, though Smith wasn't involved in the play.

Avs fan dropping by. On the main board, it seems like we agree this was mutually beneficial. Hopefully Kovalenko makes it a good trade for you too.
Congrats on Mackenzie's first win

Kovalenko looks like he's got something. Very fun player to watch. And with his transition from Russia to the NHL, I think he's probably in a better situation now to be able to develop his game and bring himself to the ice on a team that doesn't have the kind of pressure to win that Colorado does.

Thank you for Blackwood. He was freaking amazing against Nashville. We haven't had a proper starter since Kuemper and his tenure was short with ups and downs. Blackwood seems amazing.

I'm so happy for Kovalenko too, glad he has started well. Wish we could had kept him but got to give to get. Cheers!

I watched the NSH-COL highlights and, while even in general I can't stand the Avs play-by-play commentator (sorry ), he seemed more excited than normal when Blackwood made saves. Hopefully he'll be good for you.

Yeah that duo in the studio has been even more unbearable this season than before, I don't blame you.

The whole crowd was pumped about Blackwood playing. They were cheering so much the whole night, must have been an awesome sight to witness real goaltending live.

Kovalenko would be perfect on either Smith's or Mack's wing. I honestly just disliked nabbing Georgiev but this deal is win-win so far
I think Kovalenko is ideally a better Sorensen on a 3rd line a la 2019 for a good team. Can put him wherever for now while we are not good, but his long-term fit should be no higher than a 3rd liner on a team that wants to be a contender.

Valuable piece to have, but should be looking to have better players in the top 6 with Celebrini/Smith.

Yeah, unless the time with Celebrini unlocks something in him and he becomes an ideal complementary top 6 guy. But we’ll see. So far, I’m very pleased with him — nonstop hustle and a good passer.
