I dont really see anything that puts us over the edge...Even if we got Gibson he would probably get hurt and miss the playoffs. We have a plethora of has-been offensive players that have lost their touch, doubt anyone wants them. McDavid isnt playing like a generational this year. Guess we pick up some meh Defenseman and hope Skinner learns becomes good?

Replacing the goalies and getting a solid defenseman like Oleksiak would push the team forward quite a bit imo.

Vegas and Florida don't have anything to offer. Dallas does but reportedly isn't interested in making a major move.

Devils fan here - we've had a rough few days. Would EDM be interested in Allen? He's 8th in Goals saved above expected this year, been a great teammate here too. Before Hughes' injury, wouldn't have traded him, but now we're in a bit of a different situation.

Would the Devils be interested in something like Jeff Skinner + Pickard for Allen?

Skinner and Knob aren't on the same page but he can somewhat badly help replacing Hughes role and would likely waive for the Devils.

This post is correct in that if McDavid, Ekholm, and Bouchard all continue to play like complete garbage the team is going nowhere regardless of what they add in the next 36 hours.

Management has no choice but to assume that that won't be the case though.

Bennett, Couple Prospects, a 2nd, future first
Vegas could do.. Dorofeyev, Prospect, pair of secodns

GM's will definitely be spooked by the fact that he has produced at a 40pt pace since leaving 2 of the top 5 players in the world.

Even if he is just having a difficult time adjusting to a very different team in Carolina, how does Florida assume he will be more valuable than Bennett or Lundell for them in the playoffs? Or will he stay, or would they be giving up a good prospect they can resign for cheap in Samoskevich for nothing next year?

For us, we have the top flight players he may need to be effective. If he doesn't re-sign, that sucks, but it shows McDavid we are serious about putting the best team around him.

I wish he was a right shot, not sure how he would do in Nuge's spot on the PP with Drai being the lefthand 1 time option. But this is a guy that could put us over the top if it works out, for sure.

Skinner wants to play in the playoffs for a contender, The Devils aren't that without Hughes.

Zito will let Bennett walk for nothing than trade him. If Florida is trading for Rantanen it would be to add to the current roster, not take away from it. And I doubt Carolina wants only draft picks

Kane probably knows that he has played his last game as an Oiler and won't be doing them any favors.

Which is still better than the "not making saves" duo here. Allen, Gibson, Soderblom, Forsberg, Korpisalo, Binnington, Lyon, Vladar, Annunen, Saros, Stolarz, Quick, Demko, UPL, etc.

Like, we aren't going to upgrade goaltending cause they don't think anyone available is enough of an upgrade.

That would seem to be the most logical acquisition out of that list. Vegas has no assets. They have no high-end prospect. No good but expendable roster player. And no 1st until 2027. They've bled their currency for the sake of their business model, and it was eventually going to catch up to them.
