Interesting listening to Spector this morning... Yes consider the source, but he says Kane is getting bought out this summer if he isn't moved before tomorrow.
Kane probably knows that he has played his last game as an Oiler and won't be doing them any favors.
Makes sense for why they acquired Frederic and Jones if this is remotely true.

Why? I'd be surprised if there's a better offer than that out there.
I'm usually a Glass Half Full fan but considering that the team has been outright terrible for a good 11-12 games now, all the rumors are pointing to them not interested in upgrading the goaltending (even if it's a smokescreen) and that they might not have any cap space because of the Kane situation something of which is still not, apparently, resolved right up to the deadline, it's understandable that the fanbase is on edge. At least going into previous deadlines, the team was generally playing well leading up to it but they've been terrible for a month so I think it's natural for fan frustration to be rising.

Not for an unsigned Rantanen. We are 7 points away from missing the playoffs. Just imagine if you will for a moment what we gave up for Frederic, plus another 1st and O'reilly and whatever we give up for a dman and we miss the playoffs and they all walk on July 1st. WE ARE DONE DONE for the next 7 years with no assets, no prospects, no draft picks, etc.
You'd be surprised if there wasn't a better offer than a cap dump, a late first and an okay prospect?
They gave up more for Rantanen. Necas on his own is worth O'Reilly, 1st+

They have a guy who’s gonna walk. Their cheapo owner doesn’t like losing assets like that (like Guentzel last season)

Nah. What would actually leave us being done for the next 7 years is McDavid walking after he watches management spend yet another year of his prime half assing it in their quest to win a championship.
As long as the team has 97, 29. and 2 they have a future.
Carolina lost that trade. They're likely not going to win another trade by trading Rantanen. Most likely have to cut their losses and take whatever is left

Yeah they did give up more for him. Not anyone else's problem.
The whole point is they're interested in trying to recoup some assets here instead of losing Necas for what amounts to nothing.
Guentzel who is a lesser player than Rantanen last year went for Bunting (who was better than Arvidsson is right now), 2 good, one decent prospect, a first and a fifth.
There are teams who would give them a far better offer.
Teams will offer up far better players than Arvidsson. And almost every team in the playoffs has a guy like O'Reilly and a first.
I should clarify. I'm saying 29-3 with slightly below average goaltending or better.

I doubt it. He was traded once already. He’s under performed and teams are aware of his asking price in FA.
Guentzel is 100% a lower player. However this situation is much different. Especially from a team that lost all of their assets in a similar fashion before

they way the NHL podcast eco system trotted Tlusty out after that trade and crowned them champions and praised him for it turn out like this is HILARIOUS.
Ultimately thats fair but there is like 5-6 playoff teams that can offer far better than Arvidsson, O'Reilly, 1st.
Wonderful management. More dead cap.
It's going to cost something to move Arvidsson though, and thats lost in this. He is a 4mill player with an extra year left who can barely put up 3rd line numbers while almost exclusively playing with the best player in the league.
