Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

Again, management is quiting on the year. Lol if they trade for someone, please have them have term, don't waste assets on non-goalie pending UFAs

I don’t really blame them with Gibsons contract. Verbeek seems like a numbskull. Its why he hasn’t been traded for 4 years. They keep thinking he has value when his contract is negative value with no retention.

Give it up, man. They were mostly playing airtight D to cover for him. He was routinely facing fewer high danger chances than the opposition. During our horrible stretch at the start of the season all advanced stats (and a basic eye test) indicated that he was far and away the biggest reason why the team sucked. The dude was only slightly above 4giev for dead last in the league.
If the advanced stats were granular enought to show just how many uncontested 10 bell chances this team gives up maybe this myth would go away.

This is the way I view it as well. If the tables were turned and the Oilers were DOD again with a previously elite goalie that's had a stretch of bad seasons, how many picks would they have to give up to get a contending team to take a chance in him?

The double standards in this league are real.

Sure, but then get other guys, because continuing to run this tandem is giving up

Oh for sure. If they don’t actually get a goalie, even if its a change of scenery, its unforgivable.

I think the problem with Gibson though is that, you need a decent backup because hes injury prone. If we can’t use Kanes cap, I think it’s just too hard to pull off cap wise.

I would trade for Bunting. He’s an asshole to play against
Bunting's contract is horrendous. And Nashville, the team just spent a bunch of unnecessary salary on veteran UFAs traded two deadline pieces that teams were probably looking to add for a contract that Dubas probably would've given them for free.

Barry Trotz is a train wreck of a GM thus far.

Well, the defense was horrible here when Mike Smith was playing above his head. Skinner had peak Ekholm and still had epic collapses, and him and Pickard had it easy for a lot of this season and still performed in the bottom tier of the league. It's more that this team hasn't been good with choosing goaltenders, especially Koskinen, Skinner, and Campbell, though a good argument could be made that Dustin Schwartz made all of them even worse.

And shitting on Bouchard won't change the fact that everything tells us most NHL goalies could stop more of his f***ups than Stu. You have to think every mistake having being an auto-goal against that doofus is doing a number on Bouchard's confidence, to say nothing of the morons in the media desperately covering for Stu. I'm sorry you actually believe some of what they're saying...

Also, Dubnyk played outstanding on a terrible team, where as with Stu it was the opposite...now the rest of the team seems to have become almost as bad as our goaltending. Wouldn't surprise me if that's where the domino fell first...
It isn't a chicken or the egg thing, if there is no giveaway, there is no chance for a goal. If Bouch doesn't want his confidence knocked, don't get cocky and make dumb plays that put your tender in a tough position. And this isnt shitting on Bouchard, I've probably defended him more than most. I understand that he isnt performing how he, or any of us thought he would this year, and for 98% of a game he is really damn good. But that 2% where he goes full Pejorative Slur, makes a goalies life miserable. And he isnt the only player on the team who has those 2% moments.

Every player got the excuse of "cup run hangover" to start the year, except Skinner. And he was improving month over month until this one when the team seemingly forgot how to play hockey.

You seem to be under the impression I am vouching for Skinner to be the starter all these years. I'm not, nor have I ever. I wanted the team to go after Blackwood more than most, and had others I wanted them to pursue to challenge for the starter role in years past. I am just not on the side of giving Skinner away at his lowest value, and replacing him solely with a guy who has some pretty major risks associated with him, while also giving up a 1st.

I don’t think there’s a single person who thinks Schwartz isn’t an issue. You’re yelling at a cloud here

Paradoxically, he relentlessly defends Skinner to the ends of the earth. A guy Schwartz scouted, developed, and still coaches, and who Keith believes we should keep...implying that he agrees with a lot of what Schwartz has done. I'm actually starting to think Keith is Schwartz and is doing all of this to deflect suspicion. Doth protest too much...
