McDavid doesn't have a true number one starter in net because there are only a handful of reliable ones in the league at any given time. And the rest of them are essentially a crapshoot.

There's a reason why established starters rarely get moved in their primes, if at all. Goaltending is an extremely volatile position.

Tampa drafted and developed an elite starter that fell into their lap in the 1st round and their entire core was drafted mainly with high draft selections. When those players came up for second and third contracts, they benefitted from being a low tax state and ended up with much lower cap numbers than say, a Canadian market.

All the insiders are saying we’re looking for a Left Defenceman … which, given our top 3 left D is the strongest part of our roster outside of Center, basically tells us that they’re looking for a non-roster player. A 4LD injury replacement. Meanwhile just about any RD on the market would be a huge upgrade for us on the Nurse pair.

Depends on what he got. Tampa doesn't need core pieces so they trade those 1sts for depth guys. If Bowman traded two 1sts and got us two core pieces like a legitimate starting goalie and a 2nd pair RD to fill our holes, anyone mad about that is a fool.

It isn’t impossible to find a goalie. If Kevin Lowe could do it I don’t want to hear after 10 years that Stuart Back Up Skinner is the best anyone here can do.
