Move out Kane and Arvy. Bring in Rantanen, Oleksiak, + goalie. Just keep Savoie. Everything else is fair game. O'Rielly, 2026 & 27 firsts, Akey etc.

No excuses.
I'm only moving O'Reilly, Akey or the 1sts for players that can help us after this season. There really isn't any available UFA that is an upgrade on what we have now and I doubt Carolina will move Rantanen now.

I know everyone wants to blame JJ for our situation but one of our main problems has gone back years. Holland had five years to fix it and after Markstrom turned him down the best he could do was the husk of Jack Campbell.

We have been cap strapped for a long time and while JJ’s bets didn’t work they weren’t egregious ones especially since the two contracts at issue are short term.

Imagine what we could do if Campbell’s buyout money wasn’t on the books and Nurse wasn’t overpaid. Both Holland errors that are still affecting us.
Colorado fixed their goaltending pretty easily. Why should our current management get a pass.

I'd move all of them for rentals and wouldn't blink.

It just needs to be the right rentals. Actual difference makers.

Am I giving him a pass? No but there were larger issues that occurred before he took over.

Colorado paid a pretty penny for Blackwood and I’m still not convinced he’s a solid bet long term.

I’m not going to be upset that Arvidsson and Skinner have not worked out. They were bets that for whatever reason haven’t worked out.

I still think we need a goalie and now it’s on Bowman to get one.

Yeah, it appears Jackson paid attention on July 1 to the even-strength goals per 60 stats, which made Skinner and Arvidsson reasonable bets. It appears the Oilers models did not consider the impact of aging curves enough.

Colorado paid a pretty penny for Blackwood? No they didn’t. I would do that deal everyday of the week to fix this shit show goaltending. There is no doubt Blackwood is better than our current goalies. The new contract extension is a different story. Not sure I like that.

I agree Holland wasn’t perfect but he still handed over a game 7 of the SC finals roster.

I wouldn’t have paid that price for him.

Yes and we still have several of those players including our shit goalies.

Year 10 of McD and we've never even gone all-in yet. Respect for TB. They needed to respond to FLA getting ready to beef up. We will add Mark Letesttube and a 7D and call it a night.
Our all in year should of been last year, with these prices I feel like we can still fix our goaltending, but probably won't do much more then that and with how the team is playing I'm not sure our group are deserving of a huge vote of confidence, atleast not a break the piggy bank and trade everything not nailed down.

We had closer ties with Grier as well and probably could've snagged a better deal. I mean the dude was willing to take Ceci off our hands...and for a decent prospect to boot.

Yet people still looked at Skinner and his playoffs with rose-colored glasses, willfully ignoring where he ranked in GSAx at that time (slightly above 4giev around the bottom two or four in the whole league), his pathetic career playoff save percentage (.894), the worst playoff GSAx of the cap era, three major playoff implosions over six rounds, and the Game 7 Cup-killing muffin of a wrister he let by...all because of a great performance in one series. Out of six.

On the other hand, a team like New Jersey was willing to demote Akira Schmid, even though he put up a similar playoff performance a year earlier to beat an even better goalie in Igor Shesterkin (and that was the year Shesterkin won the Vezina).

And you know what Blackwood would've cost us cap-wise? What we're paying Klingberg AND Kapanen.
