Get a goalie!!

Pretty sure Tallon missed the RFA date which screwed the team, which is why he was let go / demoted. Bowman retooled twice after they had gone all in for 2010. They won two Cups with support players he brought in. Of course, the drafted elites did most of the work but the role players actually pitched in there

Which is essentially what he’s “trying” to do this season after JJ went “all in” on July 1. Those signings have, of course, not turned out as expected and their trade protection has basically put Bowman into a position of dollar in, dollar out (no, the paltry Kapanen and Klingberg salaries don’t mean much for that, and Bowman cleared cap with the Ceci for Emberson trade).

Bowman isn’t a great GM but this is pretty much all on JJ.

He didn’t retool, they kept the same core and he continued to bleed them dry until they couldn’t compete anymore due to lack of depth (sound familiar ?)

He traded away:

Panarin, Andrew Ladd, Dustin Byfuglien for MARTY REASONER, Brian Campbell for a bottom 6 forward, traded away a young Philip Danaut for 4th liner Dale Weise, traded Ryan Hartman for a bust, traded Henri Jokiharju for Alex Nylander (the bust) , and Robin Lehner for Malcolm Subban. He also traded away the picks that would become Brock Nelson, Igor Shesterkin, and Jake Oettinger with nothing to show for it. Those are just the major blunders, never mind all the minor ones.

His GMing track record is beyond awful, you have no idea how badly he tanked the Blackhawks.

Are you talking about Lowetide?
Cause when I was listening he was saying we shouldn't trade Skinner but we should trade for a goalie cause a goalie can often be the solution to all your problems.
Yeah he said we should add a goalie after my post.

He’s still defending Skinner for having played 35 playoff games. Like yeah he played the games, but he was mostly awful. He got carried, it’s not something to brag about or indicate he’s elite in any way.

This Declan kid telling it like it is though, citing save % and GAA being completely horrific

Is that good? Sounds like a lot for those two.

I couldn't fathom the outrage here if we flipped two 1sts for Gourde and Bjorkstrand.

Another team did it though, so we're dumb for not I guess.

I swear to god if Frederic went somewhere else for the same package yesterday there would be cries of "WHY COULDN'T WE DO THAT!?" Instead we have to pretend it's a massive overpay, only because we did it.

If this team had a goalie like Vasalievski(sp), that would be just fine.

Holy crap that’s way too much.
I agree completely, but I did think they lacked a bit of depth in the game the Oilers lost to them, this does help bolster that. I think Tampa is trying to win in next couple years while Hedman is still at this high of a level.

Tampa isn't shy, I'll give them that.

It would be nice if the Oilers brought in a forward and defenceman who are analytics darlings this season. I feel like we're always bringing guys in a year or two too late.

That is a horrendous trade for the Lightning. Eyssimont is arguably more impactful than Gourde alone at this point.
I'm gonna be honest, I can't say I agree.

They already know the Gourde meshes well with the team. Bjorkstrand is a smart winger. Gotta respect the willingness to go balls to the wall.

Edit: To be clear, yeah.. it's a high price, but that's the market.

If Bolts got retention it’s not so bad. Gourde is a fit there, they know it, if Seattle retained the value isn’t so bad. He’s gonna have a real impact on their team. I’m not a fan of Bjorkstrand though
