So who still thinks a 2nd + throw-in prospect for Blackwood was still too much?
We were 6th best in GA not that long ago, then the goalies started continually shitting the bed and the team's entire defensive structure has fallen apart.

It's posts like this that show how ineot Oilers fans can be. No matter what the cost....the way this team is playing and then they get tossed out first round or maybe second round with Vejmelka a rental and then they are hamstring for the foreseeable future and can make NO UPGRADES at the trade deadline next year when they are stronger (because they have zero assets) after correcting their mistakes made in July 1

Let's be frank, the team's best bet to win was last year. I don't really care about the future at this point because there isn't a future for this team. The instant McDavid thinks about greener pastures is the instant this franchise is toast.
If you can't win with talents like McDavid and Draisatl, then there's no hope for you. Period.

Well I think the team has to ask itself then, if getting say a Jordan Binnington is what puts you over the top for getting McDavid to agree to sign an extension on July 1 ... you might at this point just be better off paying whatever it takes minus Savoie.
Because you need to be able to show that he has a window to win here, he's won with Team Canada with Binnington, it's easier to sell then that he could win here too with Leon and Binnington.
There's no chance he's resigning with the tandem we have now IMO. Why would any top player invest their remaining prime years on this tandem, no one is going to do that.

I won't blame him either. The Oilers have always seen him as an instant win button and put in the absolute bare minimum effort to build a winning team around him. The team around him sucks and it's not like we have a bunch of prospects waiting to take the next step either.

A bunch of us are in the same boat. I’ve committed to not watching the Oilers at all for the rest of the season if they don’t acquire a goalie by the deadline. I’m pretty confident that they will miss the playoffs if they don’t acquire one.
Even if they make the playoffs, they’re done in R1/R2. This tandem isn’t going to take them anywhere to the Stanley cup. f*** the management and media for believing that stupidity
