Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

Why would the Blues trade him? They have a chance at making the playoffs this year and could be trending up next year.
Using their window to move the guy while he has value has been the rumors as of late.

Contract has been pretty bad for much of it's duration and this could be their window to move on.

Although they had a good week last week and all their rumors kind of died down in St.Louis

Really interested in listening to Vallequette talk about Skinner. Basically every model confirms the eye test that he is one of the slowest moving goalies in the league, and the worst off the rush and side to side.

Even Jamie McLellan talked about Skinner's weaknesses last week on the GYB podcast. There's no doubt in my mind other teams did their homework on how to score easier on him. It'll happen even more when we have to face the tough teams in the playoffs. Inexcusable not to have a new goalie if they actually plan on going in that path.

Guys I watched that video. Don't you think he's talking about Byram? Plays 17-18 minutes a night, plays left side but can switch to right side, has more than a year remaining on his contract and has fallen out of favour with his team.

That's what Stauffer said. Don't you think its him or Samuelsson?

We were scouting Buffalo

it's frustrating that we signed a winger that seemingly won't even get into the lineup until playoffs. That's gonig to throw chemistry and balance off for sure, especially with the kane factor, too. I like the player, but why are we giving up so much for not even a single regular season game so the coaching staff can figure out where he fits before playoffs start?
It just means that this isn't the biggest add we are making this deadline.

More to come for sure..

They were never going to dump Stu Shitter, there was too much smoke about it.

I’ll say again, will grit and a mid pairing D stop pucks?

Waste of assets
I like the addition of Frederic.
I'm pretty sure I'll like the new D they acquire also.
But ignoring our shit tandem and running them again in the post season is a recipe for a disaster 1st/2nd round exit. It's inexcusable. Year 10 of McDavid, and we still don't have a good goalie.

As much as people don’t want to believe it there very likely is a market for Kane.

Especially for contending teams that lack any real physical presence.
Well Friedman says Kane's list is all "competitive teams". I don't see us trading him to a team in the West. So that pretty much leaves like 7-9 Eastern teams potentially. Looks like Columbus, Rangers and Detroit are the only 2 "competitive" teams that have any sort of capspace.

Byrams contract expires this season.

It’s most likely going to be dollar in dollar out.

Or Matheson or Samuelsson?

Maybe Columbus if hes willing to go there

Reminds me too much of overpaying for Henrique when we needed a D (and I said goaltending as well) last season, despite the idiots insisting "Holland wasn't done." No, he wasn't...we landed Troy Stecher lol

Honestly I know I joked about it earlier, but if Carolina retained on Hall to make salaries even I could see the Oilers taking Hall straight up for Kane just to get out of next year's money owed.

That's if the relationship truly has soured and they truly are trying to move him, which who the hell knows as there hasn't exactly been a lot of leaks around this team with a new GM.

Overpaying for a retained Vejmelka is the only thing that makes some sense (that is relatively easy to pull off cap wise) from Edmontons point of view, goalie wise. But Utah probably wants to make the playoffs and who knows if they want Skinner.

He needs to spend the offseason trying to lose 20-30lbs. He's to heavy for an NHL goalie.

Guys I know what everyone is going to say but maybe we retained so much on Frederic because we know we can use the rest of our cap space to get a Dman or more help now? Maybe the team knows Kane is getting traded or staying on LTIR.

Stauffer is fully expecting Bowman to not be done

They're going to trade for a 4/5 D and a 4C like they've been saying for weeks (he was hinting at the bottom 6 with grit Frederic).

There will be no goalie changes.
