Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

I liked Wanner but he seems to have regressed and he was a project to begin with. Lachance I had time for too but he had to want to sign and also his skating is going to hold him back significantly.

The second seems right in terms of price for Frederic and Hauser sounds like an interesting replacement prospect.
A Devils fan just told me that he thinks Lachance's dad is a scout for them. So the "not wanting to sign in Edmonton" thing could have legs. If he was looking for a way out to sign with NJ as a free agent, its fine to have traded him for retention. Better than nothing.

I’m not sure they would retain to this degree if they were moving Kane. It either means they are trying to work around Kane or they have a big move coming where they need all the space they can get.
That’s how I perceive it as well. Like Bob said last night, what happens with Kane affects whatever moves the Oilers want to decide to do.

Reimer sucks. He's done. He is worse than Pickard and Skinner, and there's no way you could convince me otherwise. The Ducks are 6 points out and they have to jump 5 teams. They aren't making the playoffs. The Utah's are close, and they're likely extending Vejmelka, so I agree that he's likely not available.

I'd be surprised if Kane was moved, only because I can't see any teams out there taking him on with his 1) age, 2) injuries, 3) cap hit and 4) controversial history of disrupting locker rooms.
Can't remember who it was yesterday, but they were mentioning what contending team would actually want a guy that wouldn't just sit on LTIR for an extra couple weeks and milk it. Which seems like a valid point especially considering he has one more year left on his contract.

Might've been Brown

Yeah, I liked Wanner too but that's some serious regression this season. Only 21 so I pray this doesn't come back to bite them but the odds are heavily stacked against him having a long pro career.

To be honest I could see Carolina having interest in Kane. Carolina isn’t exactly hard to play against.

Lol he's been there since he retired. Now head of US scouting. Had no idea. Makes a ton of sense now.

I mean dude is only scoring at like a 20 goal pace the in the New Year ...

I've lost faith in Knob. His asinine choices for healthy scratches and chemistry-crushing line blending tells me this recent slump wasn't solely on the players. And McDavid going cold after leading Team Canada in scoring at the Four Nations? That might just be a coincidence, or something is rotten in DenKnob.

Wanner has had a pretty bad year. I didn’t see much from him in the preseason.

I think Lachance is a legit prospect (not blue chip or anything obviously). But the Czech player they got in return looks like he at least has some tools and potential.

Unfortunately we aren’t able to wait for him while we’re in win now mode.

He’s a pick from the previous regime so he wasn’t going to have the same runway with the new GM.

That being said, we will have to replenish the prospect pool.

it's frustrating that we signed a winger that seemingly won't even get into the lineup until playoffs. That's gonig to throw chemistry and balance off for sure, especially with the kane factor, too. I like the player, but why are we giving up so much for not even a single regular season game so the coaching staff can figure out where he fits before playoffs start?

This is where that darned "pro scouting" comes into play. Too bad we suck, badly, at it.

Especially for goaltending, which is the worst in the league for scouting, drafting, and developing, which is how we ended up with Skinner to begin with. There are countless current backups and third-stringers who would likely lap Skinner in performance if given the same chances behind the same team.

It still makes me laugh when people say we should wait for Stu to get better.

He isn't getting better, just look at his snail-speed lateral movement and grade-school-dodgeball rebound control. And look at how drastically Tristan Jarry fell off a cliff with Dustin Schwartz's coaching, and he was considered more gifted than Stu!

Interesting considering they could be moving Rantanen

Dare I say a Hall for Kane swap with retention from multiple teams lol.

Yes I know Hall sucks
Well his renovated house is still waiting for Hall.
Perry, Henrique, Max Jones.

Who's the next Ducks the Oilers are going to add?
Gibson and Dumoulin :D

Or...maybe it's just you.

Could you imagine though a Rantanen for Kane trade straight across?

It would be big enough to stop the tariffs in their tracks! Crash all systems! Stock Market offline!
